Capoeira Music workshops introduce participants to the African-based Brazilian instruments of Capoeira: The berimbau (1-stringed gourd guitar), pandeiro (tambourine), atabaque (congo drum), agogô (bells), and reco-reco (scraper). This workshop requires these specialized instruments or similar substitutions. All ages are welcome! Participants will learn basic rhythms for all instruments as well as call and response songs used in Capoeira.

The advanced form is dancing with machetes, however this movement workshop can be taught to beginners with sticks or just by using hands and claps.
