137 (Gideon’s Winepress). The Weaver’s Violin. Something within me is holding the reins; all I can say is Praise God, I got something within me. Sing an Old Psalm Newly. Posted by Joel f. Asymp; 1 Comment. This morning I went to a workshop at Redeemer by The Psalm Project. To get a demonstration of what I’m trying to describe. My main complaint is that they’ve chosen to do away with the “old” “church modes” — Dorian, Phrygian, et. Anyways, if this is a vision of the future for music in our Reformed churc...

A personal paraphrase of Psalm 137:1-7. We are the homeless here: held captive. In silence, and unwanted; taunted. They jibe “so where is your God now? We sit by muddy gutters fed. By our tears. Truth? It trickles, mute,. From flick’ring streetlamps, and our songs. 8212; our songs? As if the dumb could sing. We could remember every ray.

Journey [of a lifetime] :. Discovering who I am in Christ. Monday, December 15, 2014. Canadian Senate to debate assisted suicide: my reflections. A Member of Parliament (MP) in our country is pushing to make doctor-assisted suicide an election issue in 2015. I remember taking Law 12 in high school and my friend Catherine and I were tasked with debating the case of Rodriguez v. British Columbia. Doctor-assisted suicide was a challenge. On October 15. Watch a video update. 8221; [Senator] Nancy Ruth said i...

I’m back in Hamilton, laying sod during the day and spending time with old friends in the evenings which is wonderful, but rather tiring. I’m pretty out of shape for sod laying! Larr; Previous post. Journey [of a lifetime] :. Discovering who I am in Christ. Here is a random collection of statements said to my boyfriend and I, and our friends during courtship. He'll be your fiancé one day. I can predict these things.". You mean you're not engaged? Oh, I thought you were further along.". Do you know how to conjugate (meant consummate) a marriage? Upon meeting someone's significant other for the first time, and said to their daughter: "Meet (name)'s future husband". Oh well . that's okay! Haven't you g...

Journey [of a lifetime] :. Discovering who I am in Christ. Monday, June 16, 2014. A bit of our story (part 2). After telling Duane's cousin that I wouldn't say no to Duane if he were to ask me out, I started to really think about him more. But I didn't hear from him and I figured he probably wasn't interested in someone as loud as me anyways. We're pretty opposite when it comes to our volume and ease with which we start up a conversation. Duane (isn't he handsome? With Caroline and Jenn. We had a confere...

One of the enjoyments of reading devotional literature from the early modern period is that it’s an easy and pleasant connection to make from the text to my own life. Tangent 1: “A Point of Literary Theory.” I think it’s central to an honest, involved, active. Is that this means. Tangent 2: “Period? 1550-1650. Not to...

I waited, patient, for the Lord,. And soon He turned, and heard my cry. Deliv’ring me from enemies. That plagued my soul, that drew me down. Into despairing mires of doubt;. Lifting me out of quicksand, setting. My feet upon a rock: Himself. Establishing anew the song. That on my lips had died before–. I love your inter...

Lapsus Calami: return to Narnia
http://slip-of-a-pen-mg.blogspot.com/2014/03/return-to-narnia.html
Just like that, I'm back. The world is whiter now than when I left, although today is beautifully clear and sunny. Yesterday I flew in just before the storm really established itself on one of the last flights from Washington, DC for the day. Tuesday morning began in what had become typical morning fashion. Oh those mornings where the sun was completely up by 6.30! Definitely on the count for the happy days challenge! One last picture of Recife. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
