Grimston Warbler: Boy what a great month for ringing
http://grimstonwarbler.blogspot.com/2014/10/boy-what-great-month-for-ringing.html
Boy what a great month for ringing. Sorry about the lack of blogging recently, because I'm settling in to Year 10, with coursework starting already so even less birding time. Since I've last done a ringing update (its been a while), I've been trying to get out ringing when I can, especially if the weather plays in our favour and boy it has, even when I've been able to go ringing, the others have been catching so many great birds. Nightingale and Redstart are species I've never seen. Norfolk List = 179.

Hopefully) Exciting And Entertaining Excursions Into The World of Museums (And Natural History). Thursday, 7 July 2011. Becoming A Twitcher: Part IV. In which I become an urban twitcher! Since my move to London, I have had very little time for indulging my burgeoning interest in British birds. However, that doesn't mean that I haven't seen plenty of them! In fact, London is a veritable smorgasboard of bird-spotting opportunities. On Canada Water itself (a small freshwater lake representing the remnants o...

Since the blog's been a bit quiet lately, and I have little that is new and interesting to write about at the moment, here is a lazy post consisting of a transcript (with some minor editing and additions, and obviously much of the show-and-tell aspect removed! Of the talk I gave at the museum a few months ago about Gideon Mantell. Enjoy! Centu...

Grimston Warbler: Birdfair 2014
http://grimstonwarbler.blogspot.com/2014/09/birdfair-2014.html
As many people know over the weekend, the 26th Birdfair took place at Rutland Water and as I live so close I went with my Dad for all 3 days. Over the last year I've started blogging and back in January I got Twitter, people have got to know me more, so this Birdfair was going to be the busiest one for me yet. Meeting new and old friends, including people from Norway to Cheshire. After an amazing first day I only managed to get around 7 stands! Your Country Needs You. Selfie with Harry the Hen Harrier.

Focus on Wildlife: The Kingfishers at Warnham
http://focus-on-wildlife.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-kingfishers-at-warnham.html
Sunday, 16 August 2015. The Kingfishers at Warnham. Today at Warnham LNR*. I saw my favourite bird up close, the kingfisher. The Common kingfisher is currently on the amber list and is a protected species. There are 3,800 to 6,400 pairs in the UK, ( RSPB Information. 2014), and about 3 individuals at Warnham. My favourite bird up close, the kingfisher. I think it is a male, females have red colouring under the bill. LNR Stands for Local Nature Reserve. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
