Unique Culinary Adventures presents a perspective from Baltimore, Maryland relating what is new, unusual, undiscovered, overlooked or forgotten regarding food and drink. Saturday, December 10, 2005. Originally uploaded by Gary Paradise. In 1988. My only change was to specify capicola ham for the "boiled ham" and to call for 36 littlenecks or 18 cherrystones as opposed to the 18 small hard shelled clams called for in. 1/4 cup finely chopped shallots. 2 cloves of garlic, minced. 3 tablespoons olive oil.
Mineral Bliss: An Historic and Obscure Zeolite Occurrence at Monkton, Maryland

Sharing a wide range of experiences and perspectives relating to mineralogy as a hobby. Tuesday, November 25, 2014. An Historic and Obscure Zeolite Occurrence at Monkton, Maryland. I acqurired it from John Betts with labels that go well beyond the call of duty to document the provenance. Though not noted on the label, John also expressed a belief that the specimen could very likely have been collected from excavations near Monkton for the Northern Central Railroad line during the 1830's. NCR Trail Torrey...

Sharing a wide range of experiences and perspectives relating to mineralogy as a hobby. Monday, May 5, 2014. Beware those Rare Franklin, NJ Micromounts. Dick Bostwick ( left. And Van King ( right. Here is what I learned:. Dick Bostwick peered through the scope at this specimen, labeled as manganberzeliite. And proclaimed that the identification could very well be accurate. It could be cahnite," he said. But how could we really tell? Your specimen does look what people have been passing around as antlerit...
Mineral Bliss: A Truly Great Overlooked Maryland Locality
http://mineralbliss.blogspot.com/2015/07/a-truly-great-overlooked-maryland.html
Sharing a wide range of experiences and perspectives relating to mineralogy as a hobby. Wednesday, July 22, 2015. A Truly Great Overlooked Maryland Locality. Deserving serious recognition in Maryland's mineralogical circles for the specimens it once yielded is the defunct Farmers Cooperative Limestone Quarry near the crossroads of New London in Frederick County. The quarry, which produced a dolostone primarily of Wakefield Marble laced with phyllite, ceased operations in 1973. He recently decided to "de-...

Sharing a wide range of experiences and perspectives relating to mineralogy as a hobby. Tuesday, March 24, 2015. Great Maryland Exhibits; Great Show. The Gem,Lapidary, and Mineral Society of Montgomery County's recent 51st annual show at the 4H building of the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Gaithersburg raised what otherwise could be a tough question. Where else, and for that matter when, can one actually see first hand a wide range of different mineral species that were collected in Maryland? Pictured...

Sharing a wide range of experiences and perspectives relating to mineralogy as a hobby. Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Unbelievable but True: The World Class Personal Collection of Peter Via. Such risk is why, when asked to loan specimens for display at shows, Mr. Via's response is a "blanket no," All the minerals from his collection that are available for the public to to view are those he has generously gifted to museums, primarily James Madison University Mineral Museum in Harrisonburg, Virginia. I'd co...
Mineral Bliss: August 2014

Sharing a wide range of experiences and perspectives relating to mineralogy as a hobby. Sunday, August 31, 2014. On a Rock from Baltimore's Stony Run. What everyone who has seen this rock finds to be curious are the concentric circles. A likely conclusion could be that they are fossils, or fossil imprints. Although it's possible, even with with a matrix of quartz or quartzite, such an occurrence would seem highly unlikely at this location in the eastern section of Maryland's Piedmont. John S. White.

Ohio Pawpaw Festival: Sept., 2005. As for the folk art piece at left, Lindy, if you still have it and still want to sell it, I hope you'll contact me. Finally, on some of the tables pictured below, you'll observe bright red clusters of sumac buds. When ground up, sumac complements a number of pawpaw recipes.
