A Little of this a Little of That. Living off the grid. The Shades of Paradise. A Little of this a Little of That. Its a Screwy World. This mobile surprised even me when I finally hung it. It consists of a half coconut shell to which I attached segments of the other half to create a fan. This is a relief carving of my sister and brother-in-law’s names joined by an interlocking heart. A Little of this a Little of That. Living off the grid. The Shades of Paradise. The horizontal handle creates a cane rather than hiking stick. I carved and attached an upright handle on this stick for use on hiking trails. The head on this cane style piece is close to the grip giving the impression that it is about to bite the hand. I prepared a local clay taken from the tropical forest by liquefying it and passing it through a filter for El Diputado. I located other veins of clay in different colors which I used Gabriella’s eyes, teeth, dress and jewelry. This is the complete sculpture – two figures on a common base.
