LIFE IS HORSE: 4/1/09 - 5/1/09

Tuesday, April 28, 2009. A Day in the Life. On Monday Teresa made it over here about 11 AM. The wind was blowing a fair breeze and it was still only 44 degrees at 10 AM. We didn't really get much done. She brushed and saddled Travler. And I warned her about his vice of lifting his back leg and stomping it to the ground. Sounds harmless, and is, unless you happen to be in the way of that heavy foot! After she left I cleaned the paddocks, and Travler and Little Hawk's water trough. Monday, April 27, 2009.

Friday, October 21, 2011. May 23-30, 2011. On the 26th I took Moe to Valley Vet for another cast, but as it turned out he got his cast off. I love going to Espanola because the weather is always so wonderful. Spring has arrived, though it is still winter in Cuba! The next day I took Travler to the Lindrith arena. He is such a monster in an arena, doing all sorts of quick, cutting horse moves. I got Jimmy to ride him to see what he would do with someone else. He is such a great horse on the trail!

May 25, 2012. Creativity Salon: an Interview with Dr. Janice Gould. I’ll begin the post by saying: Welcome to my Bookjoy Creativity Salon, Janice, and. Congratulations on recently receiving tenure at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. You are a new friend with whom I’ve so enjoyed spending time recently. Photo by credit Jason Ordaz, School for Advanced Research, Santa Fe, NM. 2 Thinking back to yourself in third grade, are you surprised at what you are doing now, at the woman you have become?

Thursday, May 28, 2009. Not in the Cards. On Tuesday, after feeding the horses, cleaning the paddocks, and putting the face masks on the horses (chores which happen every morning) then saving the young life of a swallow (not an every day occurrence), the day had a great feel to it. I had a bunch of good energy and things seemed to flow in quick, easy progression. I groomed Angel then saddled her and worked her in the round-pen, then climbed on and rode her. I will start her in that soon. Angel was in the...

Tuesday, April 26, 2011. April 24 and 25, 2011 Rain, Rain Go Away, Wait Not Snow Instead! After Zach left on Saturday, the 23rd, we started to get isolated showers. But he made it all the way to Moab without getting wet. Moe, however, had trouble keeping his cast clean. He learned to walk (and run) with his cast, much to our chagrin! The horses, however, have had to stay in their paddocks which is NOT where they want to be. All that rain is making the grass grow. You can almost hear it growing! It was go...

Sunday, May 29, 2011. May 14-22, 2011. On the 14th Terry and I took a load of manure up to Keith and Elena for their garden. It is so easy now that we have the dump trailer! On the 15th Teresa called to say 3 bulls had gotten in to her dad's land and did I want to come out and help move them. I decided to take Little Dee because she has done some herding. On the 16th it was breezy to windy again. The wind made the horses feel real good and they came running in for dinner. I wrenched my back riding Little...
