camping and caravanning club magazine | Matthew Midgley Illustration

https://matthewmidgley.com/tag/camping-and-caravanning-club-magazine

A taste of ink. July 5, 2015. Camping and caravanning club magazine. One thing surprised me about my. Cover of Camping and Caravanning’s June 2015 issue was being allowed to draw in the masthead. Companies work very carefully to protect their brand image and I thought it was brave of the magazine to cast away the clean lines of the regular magazine masthead and go forward with my hand drawn version. build your own burger | Matthew Midgley Illustration

https://matthewmidgley.com/tag/build-your-own-burger

A taste of ink. Building my own burger again. July 9, 2015. Build your own burger. We popped out for lunch just before we were to send Lucy off on a residential school trip to the Lake District. There seems to be a real trend towards Sweet Potato Fries at the moment. They’re everywhere. I guess it’s a sweeting-tasting alternative to the blander, regular fries. They’re quite moorish already, but I wonder what they would be like with a sprinkling of paprika on them? Click to email (Opens in new window).

Materials | Matthew Midgley Illustration

A taste of ink. Sketchbooks, much like other materials that I use, came about as favourites purely by trial and error. Well, actually I have to admit, not entirely. I realise that many people prefer spiral bound sketchbooks, but I prefer hard bound. Which, unfortunately, makes finding a decent sketchbook (which can lie flat whilst open) nigh on impossible. Produces a Watercolour Notebook. The paper takes paint well and has a nice tooth for pen work. Read her review Here. The ink dries very quickly on con...

Paintings etc. | Puddle of Dreams

An artist who dabbles in lots of different things. 4 thoughts on “ Paintings etc. July 19, 2007 at 12:14 pm. I particularly like the two on the left! January 10, 2008 at 8:42 pm. So, why did those old art students think your art was too strange? Was it really different than what I am seeing here? Really like that tree painting and the one with the butterfly. Wish I could paint so freely. September 11, 2008 at 11:39 am. I like very much the little buda. July 5, 2009 at 3:12 am. Beside the Wave gallery UK.

Puddle of Dreams

https://happyjacqui.wordpress.com/2014/07/12/1114

An artist who dabbles in lots of different things. July 12, 2014. After the last post, I had a terrible session at the AVAA where I ended up doing an almost cartoon life drawing of the model. I finished the session early, feeling defeated and broken. The above drawing is from this week. Again I struggled. This was the 3rd and most successful drawing. Below is the worse. This was my first drawing, at least the feet look like they stuck to the ground! I intend to go back as it is a great location. This is ...

Almost back to square one | Puddle of Dreams

https://happyjacqui.wordpress.com/2015/02/19/almost-back-to-square-one

An artist who dabbles in lots of different things. Almost back to square one. February 19, 2015. Anyway, I have a work that I am reasonably happy with as it was based on a still life set up and I was able to move away from that, to create another image which is the way I want to go. Here is the set up:. The tea set belongs to my grand-daughter and like me as a child, she loves to make tea for her Mummy and Nanna. Finished Painting – 30cm X 36cm acrylic on Rice paper coated with acrylic gesso. Mi teintes ...

A taste of ink. The Charms of Halloumi. June 23, 2015. The mozzarella-like Halloumi cheese originates from Cyprus, but is now pretty much available all over the place. It is made with goat’s and sheep milk and has a high melting point so is perfect for grilling and frying and barbecue. It has a very slight salty flavour. Here I present a Halloumi Salad; with salad leaves, tomato, olives and grated parmesan. Click to email (Opens in new window). Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window). Post was no...

Friday, 31 July 2015. From the 32nd floor. I was lucky to be part of a group who were invited to draw from the 32nd storey of an office block in the City of London earlier this month. Compared with buildings in many other cities, the 32nd floor isn't really so high, but in London it gives you a phenomenal view. It would have been easy just to spend the time gawping at the view and trying to make sense of which parts of town are which, but it's not often you get a chance to draw scenes like these. Getting...

Wednesday, 28 March 2018. Outside Cambridge Analytica and Facebook. It is only a five-minute walk between the Cambridge Analytica HQ in New Oxford Street (above) and the newly opened Facebook offices in Rathbone Square (below). Following reports. By the time I got to draw the Facebook offices a few days later, the warrant had been granted, and Cambridge Analytica's offices had been searched. There is a pristine newness about the Facebook complex, and the surrounding retails units are still being fitt...
