Wood Panels: 2015-06-14
http://woodpanels.blogspot.com/2015_06_14_archive.html
Sunday, 14 June 2015. Like a number of these Caveman drawings, they're not really understandable out of context. So what is the context? Since you asked and 'cause I like you, here you go. It's Doug's (the caveman's) first day at work. I chose to ink the second panel because it is most self contained, though I like the 3rd and 4th panels better. The previous post on this blog shows two designs for the studio's sign that will go over the door in the top left drawing. See? I am kinda planning this thing!
Wood Panels: Robot Lord
http://woodpanels.blogspot.com/2015/04/robot-lord.html
Wednesday, 22 April 2015. This is not a test. If I said "Robot Lord" to you and the only other things you know about him/her/it is that this character is mean, probably evil and they have and use a sword. So based on that information, which design shown below do you like best, or if none appeal to you, which comes closest and what parts of any one of them do you like? Can you suggest something more apt? 22 April 2015 at 11:21. 1 is pretty plain. I like his eyes but youve got them in #2, so Id toss #1.
Wood Panels: A Trip for the Eye
http://woodpanels.blogspot.com/2015/04/a-trip-for-eye.html
Thursday, 23 April 2015. A Trip for the Eye. Do you know the experience of hearing a musician's latest album and you think to yourself, "Buddy, you gotta get a new sound or something, 'cause this is TIRED! Well, I've been saying to that to myself lately. I've been wanting to see something new, something different so I figured I'd try to draw some place different, to draw a little escapist place for your eye, a place to imagine oneself into, and voila! The Temple of the Monkey Cult is born. Not his kind o...

The flat on composition is perfect - makes it very up front and simple and somehow underlines the simplicity of the joke. Okay, I see a few. Finally, I th...

Tuesday, 17 March 2015. I know it's not the most interesting of structures - I probably should have added more projections and cut-aways but the look of the building wasn't as important to me as to trying to convey the size of the thing. Is going to ruin, or of we have made friends with the plants and can now live in harmony with our chlorophyll filled brethren. I also like the really small, smudges that could be interpreted as birds. I can almost hear them. Believe it or not, I've never done horizontal ...

Sunday, 12 April 2015. Out of the Mouths of Babes. Sometimes a piece, be it an animated cartoon or a comic is saved by the execution, by something that happens after the writing and most of the planning is done. This is one of them. In my opinion, that's really the funniest part - he looks so ticked but has this ridiculous slime trail going down his gob. Here's a close up of Mom and the gipper. By the way, Mr. I.G. the baby? Wood Panels: Robot Lord Round II
http://woodpanels.blogspot.com/2015/04/robot-lord-round-ii.html
Wednesday, 29 April 2015. Robot Lord Round II. Here's another stab at the Robot Lord character design. I did a drawing somewhat like the one on the right and thought it was pretty funny, which gave me the idea that perhaps this character can extend his limbs so that he can be tall or short depending on his mood, inclination or what he needs to do. One challenge with this idea is how do I shape his torso and hips so that it can be lean like a hero or rounded and pudgy like a toddler? 30 April 2015 at 08:52.

He was all of this and much more. One place to start is the web site of the Flyin Ryan Hawks Foundation. Chris, Riley...
