Perceptions & Experiences in the Japan Tokyo Mission
Konnichiwa: March 2012
http://jamesanddixie.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Perceptions and Experiences in the Japan Tokyo Mission. Monday, March 19, 2012. So, all in all, it is still an exciting step in our eighteen-month mission. No, these are not a "spring cleaning" event; it is what you see every. Sunny day, winter through summer! The next few pictures are an attempt to show you the narrowness of two-lane roads in which bikers and walkers are always present, trying their best to avoid traffic coming from both directions. In their ornamental shrubs and trees. Most Japanese ho...

Perceptions and Experiences in the Japan Tokyo Mission. Thursday, February 28, 2013. As we exited the train station to walk to the nearby museum,. We couldn't help but notice Tokyo's Sky Tree, the tallest tower in the world! Mumbai was building one taller, so Japan added a 70' topknot to maintain the record! As we rode the escalator to the display area,. We loved seeing the paintings mounted along the wall. This was a piece of roof decoration taken from a nearby shrine I had recently visited. Shogun atti...
Konnichiwa: September 2012
http://jamesanddixie.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Perceptions and Experiences in the Japan Tokyo Mission. Tuesday, September 25, 2012. A Tribute To and a Celebration of. Tribute to what, you may ask? Actually, a tribute, to the many beautiful flowers I've encountered on my walks this summer. And the celebration? It's for the END of this way too hot, too humid summer! Other than the few common flowers I am able to recognize - cherry blossom, azalea, hydrangeas, camellia, impatiens - the rest are all unknown to me, the perennial Black Thumb of the West!

Perceptions and Experiences in the Japan Tokyo Mission. Sunday, October 14, 2012. Is There a (Grammar) Doctor in the House, Part II? Or the "What were they thinking of? That makes it interesting. See for yourself! So, if you've been thinking of a new career, perhaps you could come to Japan and offer your services as an advertising agent! Heaven knows, you could become a millionaire! Perceptions and Experiences in the Japan Tokyo Mission. Wednesday, February 29, 2012. Our destination for this little excursion the Bridges had planned the day before the mission conference? The Origami Factory in downtown Tokyo. Sisters Johnsen and Bridge and I in front of the Origami Factory. Remember that whatever you see from here on out is made totally from folded paper! It may look like fabric or porcelain, but everything there is handmade by merely folding and snipping paper. Just by folding paper.

Oh the Hubanity: My Top 5 Desired Callings
http://ohthehubanity.blogspot.com/2013/09/my-top-5-desired-callings.html
Wednesday, September 25, 2013. My Top 5 Desired Callings. I know you're not supposed to "want" callings. But c'mon. It's not like I want these for prestige or honor. I just think they're (a) easy or (b) fun! Here are what I consider to be a marriage of both:. Because this is the numbers-heaviest calling outside of Church Statistician, I have to go with it. I don't even really know what a ward clerk does exactly, but I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy it. And pretty sure I'd rock it. I get out of Sunday School AND.
Oh the Hubanity: First (real) Camping Trip with the Scamp: Maryland State Park #13
http://ohthehubanity.blogspot.com/2015/07/first-real-camping-trip-with-scamp.html
Tuesday, July 28, 2015. First (real) Camping Trip with the Scamp: Maryland State Park #13. We didn't wait long to schedule our first trip in the scamp. And after spending all the money we did on it, well, we better be using it pretty often. We picked Greenbrier State Park. For our first real outing. (Unlike the fake one at Deep Creek Lake. Of hiking trail would suffice.). Me and my boys hiking the first night. Ollie chose this strange position to eat his Teddy Grahams. Rhett preferred this pose. We could...
Oh the Hubanity: The Scamp in Action, or Maryland State Park #12: Deep Creek Lake
http://ohthehubanity.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-scamp-in-action-or-maryland-state.html
Friday, July 10, 2015. The Scamp in Action, or Maryland State Park #12: Deep Creek Lake. On our way home, we thought it would be fun to stop at a state park to (1) shorten the drive and (2) break in the Scamp. Thank goodness we don't have a boat and already visited the nature center here. Because we didn't really have time for much else while there. That's okay because this trip was really about the Scamp. And we couldn't have planned it better: we had rain! But did I care? July 11, 2015 at 12:00 PM.
Oh the Hubanity: Random Thoughts
http://ohthehubanity.blogspot.com/2015/07/random-thoughts.html
Friday, July 17, 2015. Obviously I'm going to put my touch on the inside of the Scamp, but how, exactly? Curtains, sure. But what else? If the camper was old, we'd paint the cabinet fronts. But as it's new, we're just not ready for that. I was thinking I'd hang a fun banner, but other than that, I just don't know. (The fabrics for the curtains arrived yesterday. They're ADORABLE.). I saw this suntan lotion. On a blog somewhere and, um, I want it. Does that make me crazy vain? To go to Denmark next week f...
Oh the Hubanity: Other Things I Should Document #1
http://ohthehubanity.blogspot.com/2015/05/other-things-i-should-document-1.html
Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Other Things I Should Document #1. I have had the opportunity three times in the past eleven days to make my new favorite food: Toasted Coconut Lime Rice Krispie Treats. The first time was for a work function, the second was our Iron Chef, and third was for a Memorial Day BBQ with friends. They are amazing. May 26, 2015 at 9:19 PM. I need to make them - I need to remember that I need to make them! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Bruno's Pic of the Month Archive.
Oh the Hubanity: Not His Best Birthday
http://ohthehubanity.blogspot.com/2015/08/not-his-best-birthday.html
Friday, August 7, 2015. Not His Best Birthday. Even though he woke up to a bedroom filled with balloons and a tableau of presents. Even though he got to open up all of those presents. Even though he LOVED these binoculars. Even though he loved everything else. Even though he some how convinced me to make pig cupcakes.(Did you know you can dye marshmallows? Well you can.). Even though he LOVED those cupcakes on his birthday and for the next three days. August 7, 2015 at 9:39 AM. August 20, 2015 at 8:10 AM.
Oh the Hubanity: June 2015
http://ohthehubanity.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 29, 2015. Scenes (moving and still) from the Pool. Friday, June 26, 2015. Last year at this time I was already weeks into my summer plans. This year? Nope No summer plans. Part of that was the pool. The pool is. My summer plan. The other part is that Chuck was looking for a new job, and that search was taking much longer than anticipated. Because I didn't know if I would be working full-time or part, I couldn't plan! BUT now we know! Chuck got a job! Why is this incredible? Last Day of School.
Oh the Hubanity: Magnifying (two of the four of) My Calling(s)
http://ohthehubanity.blogspot.com/2015/07/magnifying-two-of-four-of-my-callings.html
Wednesday, July 15, 2015. Magnifying (two of the four of) My Calling(s). Is: Gospel Doctrine teacher. (I'm not quite ready to talk about this without crying, so I won't now.). I've been doing the bulletins for over three years and I'm kinda getting bored by them. (The Bishop won't release me, so please don't suggest this.) On Sunday, Chuck and I brainstormed some ideas that will, if nothing else, make me enjoy doing these again. If you have any to add to our ideas, please share. 2 Bored by the speakers?
Oh the Hubanity: Maryland State Park #11: Swallow Falls
http://ohthehubanity.blogspot.com/2015/04/maryland-state-park-11-swallow-falls.html
Wednesday, April 15, 2015. Maryland State Park #11: Swallow Falls. The cabin there was NOT a full-service cabin. It was basically a tent with bunk beds. But it was a dry tent with bunk beds! April 15, 2015 at 2:27 PM. Seriously looks so great! Im super jealous. i want to camp! Oh, and im wearing the blue vest this very moment. i love it! Did the 7-year old keep up the 3-year old at night? Or did he sleep through all the spider stuff? April 18, 2015 at 5:51 AM. What charm and what success! New (To Us) Car.

Perceptions and Experiences in the Japan Tokyo Mission. Tuesday, December 31, 2013. In a former post regarding the friends we made in Japan, one of those friends was Yuichi Uchida, a retired French professor who came weekly to our English classes. His English was perfect, but he came because he enjoyed speaking English with others and because he was curious about the Mormon church. He even attended our Sunday School classes, which Elder G and I also taught in English. We were excited to share the beautie...
