http://n-zizzle.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 22, 2009. Dan Making, Lexie Eating. Mouthfuls of Smores (and Wine). Sunday I got up and went for a paddle on a grey day. Katie relaxed and was able to catch up with friends enjoying the North American summer. By the time I got home in the afternoon it was drizzling, but warm, so we went for a short walk around the neighborhood. We also cooked up a big chicken dinner sunday night, yum. View from the Road. Hard to Watch the Slopes with this Backdrop. A Few more Ohau Shots. After checking i...

Monday, July 27, 2009. Thailand Tour Part 2-Elephants and Monkeys and Pineapples, Oh My! Following our medicine shop adventure, we piled into a minivan and arrived shortly at the Elephant Conservatory. And Hospital just outside of Lampang. I was not very excited about this part of our itinerary, thinking that I could ride an elephant at the zoo at home. But, this place was amazing! After their bath, they headed over to the show ring where they showed off for us. They responded to cues, verbal and phy...

New Zealand Dish: West Coast
http://n-zizzle.blogspot.com/2009/12/west-coast.html
Tuesday, December 29, 2009. The bottom section was much easier and a fun grade III-IV river. We enjoyed more narrow gorge walls in several areas with more open dense rainforest when they flattened out a bit. It felt like paddling through the amazon. The walkout again was a farmer's field to a dirt road which likely doesn't see much traffic. Lower Section at Low Water. The next day was a long boring haul home and unpacking to get ready for the last few days of work. Tuesday, December 29, 2009. Lollipop pe...

New Zealand Dish: April 2009

Sunday, April 19, 2009. This is really something to be proud of as some of his competition included members of the department with much more experience than he. He will be using the money to inflict shoulder pain on participants to see how it affects motion and function. Any volunteers? So, we cranked the tiny fan heater in the room and made our frosty trips to the shared bathroom outside in the middle of the night as quick as possible. Craig at Castle Hill. Castle Hill from a distance. Boot = Trunk of c...

New Zealand Dish: March 2009
http://n-zizzle.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 25, 2009. We received a fantastic set of fuzzy green stick-on facial features in the mail from Kim, so we put them on and headed to our favorite restaurant to celebrate St Patty along with our friend's birthday. The fuzz was quite a hit, especially when Craig's mustache fell off in his water glass! It was a pretty tame day for us, compared to the usual festivities, but fun nonetheless! I still feel I may have a problem with walking off the mountain for the takeoff though. The past weeken...

Monday, May 11, 2009. Here is a video we made from Andy's visit. We are trying a new video method so people don't have to download huge files. The video is password protected so not everyone can access it. The password is "n-zizzle". Take a look. Monday, May 11, 2009. Monday, May 4, 2009. A Bit of Home Cooking. Last weekend we experienced our first Anzac Day (and I thought they were just cookies). Anzac Day is a remembrance for those that served and died in military action for New Zealand and Austral...

New Zealand Dish: December 2008
http://n-zizzle.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 28, 2008. North Island Part 1. We carried on though, and drove up a ramp onto a huge ship where we parked, along with about 100 other cars, some RV’s, and a tractor trailor. Pretty impressive! I’m hoping to see some more of those while we’re here. Crater of Mt Tongariro. Lake Taupo from the Hike. While the dam was releasing, the river below was humongous, raging whitewater (class VI for those of you kayakers). It was turquoise and white, really beautiful. When the dam stopped rel...Then ...

New Zealand Dish: The End of Our Kiwi Era
http://n-zizzle.blogspot.com/2010/04/end-of-era.html
Thursday, April 15, 2010. The End of Our Kiwi Era. We got everything finished with a few minutes to spare but still had not sold our car, Shaggy! So, we bribed our good friend Emma to drive us to the airport and then to sell our car for us. So, she handed us over to customs and we handed Shaggy over to Emma, and we were off to Auckland. We spent our first day in Auckland wandering around the city, seeing the sights, and enjoying some yummy gelato. New Zealand's America's Cup Yacht Takes us Over! We arriv...

Thursday, April 15, 2010. Our Last Great South Island Adventure. We arrived in Fox Glacier that afternoon, checked out town, walked up to the terminal face of the glacier, relaxed for a bit, then met up with a glacier guide friend of Lexie's for dinner. Then is was back to the lodge to get psyched and rested for the next morning's big adventure! Terminal Face of Fox Glacier. Katie and Lexie Eating Icebergs! We decided to try and get on a heli-hike the following morning so we spent the evening driving out...
