Blogish
http://www.tomoconnor.eu/blogish
I decided after a fair bit of to-ing and fro-ing that Wordpress was not really meeting my demands for a website any more. Most of the stuff I write these days is closer to articles than blog posts. Wordpress pages still run everything through stripslashes and addquotes and all the rest of that PHP nonsense, because nobody seems to be able to write a blogging engine that doesn't expose the host server to a metric pantload of bugs and vulnerabilities. Tom can slam a revolving door. The Change One Thing Rule.
Part 5: Ansible Galaxy
http://www.tomoconnor.eu/blogish/part-5-ansible-galaxy
Part 5: Ansible Galaxy. Thursday, October 30th 2014. It's been a while since I wrote Parts 1. On my Ansible Tutorial series, but I've recently changed my approach somewhat when using Ansible, and certainly when I build on Parallax. I've started using more and more from Ansible Galaxy. For those of you who don't know, Galaxy is a community "app store"-like thing for sharing reusable Ansible Roles. Https:/ galaxy.ansible.com/. Https:/ galaxy.ansible.com/explore#/. Click the "database" category. Starting wi...

Lightning Post: Dumping MS DNS to Bind
http://twinhost.co.uk/blogish/lightning-post-dumping-ms-dns-bind
Lightning Post: Dumping MS DNS to Bind. This is the first in a series of Lightning Posts, short snippets that I don't really have the time to write up into a full post, but they're interesting nonetheless. Lightning Post 1: How to export DNS data from Microsoft DNS to a zone file. Why'd you wanna do that? I hear you cry. Well, It's entirely possible to use BIND (or PowerDNS, for that matter) as a DNS server instead of the integrated MS DNS service that's bundled with Windows Server. Part 4: Ansible Tower.

FakeRAID and Virtualisation
http://twinhost.co.uk/blogish/fakeraid-and-virtualisation
Thursday, 14th November 2013. I've been tinkering with Virtualisation quite a bit recently. For a new project, without an allocated budget, I was asked to provide some simple Virt. capability, to hold them over until they get budget approval, and can buy their own hardware. So from spending a few weeks digging into VMWare vCenter and so on, to now having one host running Hyper-V, it's been quite an interesting journey. Not only do I now have a working server (utilising a FakeRAID card - Something I'm...
FreeSWITCH on a Raspberry Pi.

FreeSWITCH on a Raspberry Pi. Thursday, 13th June 2013. I've had a Raspberry Pi. For ages now. I got one free courtesy of Paypal at their Charity Hack in late 2012. And our team (see photo, I'm there! Went on to use it to create the (World's First? Raspberry Pi based Wifi Hotspot. I've wanted to do something potentially useful, definitely interesting, and probably rewarding with it for a while. That aside for now, I've recently moved back from London, and into the basement flat at my parents' place.
Part 4: Ansible Tower
http://www.twinhelix.org/blogish/part-4-ansible-tower
Part 4: Ansible Tower. Monday, 21st July 2014. You may remember that in January, I wrote a trilogy of blogposts surrounding the use of Ansible, as a handy guide to help y’all get started. I’ve decided to revisit this now, and write another part, about Ansible Tower. In the 6-odd months since I wrote Parts 1. And so, to part four: Ansible Tower. Is the Web-based User Interface for Ansible. Developed by the company behind the Ansible project. Ansible Tower server (I’m using a VMware environment, so b...

If you haven't, go and do it now. You should also be familar with some of the basic concept surrounding AWS deployment, how AWS works, and so on. In this section, we'll be looking at how you can put it all together, using Ansible to provision an EC2 instance, do the basic OS config, and deploy an application.
