I co-create, co-conspire, run, travel, cook, eat, drink and build movements with friends. Friday, January 23, 2009. A New Year - Jubilee? Can you believe we are 3 weeks into 2009? In times like these the natural thing to do is simply hunker down and survive. It’s simple dollars and cents preservation. However I keep thinking, what would Jesus do in a recession? Would he just weather the storm or would he be even more radical? Would he give more? Would he feed more hungry people? So here’s what I pr...

Ever get those petitions to help a cause or non profit win $250,000 worth of ad space in the NY Times or some other publication? Or some twitter facebook contest from a beverage distributer giving money to a charity? Granted my org isn’t very big, but do you have to be a huge brand and have celebrities attached to your cause to make it? Wednesday, June 30, 2010.

To top things off…my flight from London to Johannesburg was canceled until the following day due to the about 2 inches of snow. (Seriously, 2 inches! I’m always amazed how God shows His faithfulness to me…via His people. PS By the way, London is really beautiful in the snow! Monday, February 16, 2009. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

I co-create, co-conspire, run, travel, cook, eat, drink and build movements with friends. Monday, March 23, 2009. Hopefully spring has sprung for most of you! Here in New England all we have is whispers that there is this season called SPRING! I have hope, that just as every other year, it will arrive. I still have dreams about that seat and it’s comfortable leather, the elbow room, the leg room, the real silverwear, a seat that actually reclined…It’s the little things! Just had to share that! Giving som...

Especially since 10,000 Homes is not simply about building houses, but rather about creating HOME - it's about BELONGING for a generation of Africa's children. I'm feeling like i'm going on this pilgrimage from a place of belonging. It's pretty cool.don't you think? Look forward to hearing from you! Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Shaw's: New friends, new country
http://shawsmissions.blogspot.com/2010/08/new-friends-new-country.html
Thursday, August 12, 2010. New friends, new country. This past week I had the opportunity to go to Swaziland for the first time. A friend of mine, Kacy, had to renew her visa and since Swazi is only about 90 minutes away, we decided to go across the border for the night. I had heard how beautiful the country is and wanted to experience it myself. John, Carla and Rae Shaw. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Friends Blogs I like to follow. John, Carla and Rae Shaw. Friday, January 22, 2010. Did I mentionin my last blog that there are 29 people on the YWAM Orlando team? They wouldbe tripping all over theirselves trying to build the one home, so we had them start digging the footin for the care center in Kabokweni. The past 2 weeks, part of the Orlando team have been digging the footing. Let me tell ya, it's some hard, back-breaking work! Some spots are nice and sandy, while others are solid rock! More updated pictures to come! John, Carla and Rae Shaw. Here's a few ...

Tuesday, October 12, 2010. Smiles make my day. Isn't it amazing how much a smile can make your day change from good to awesome? Yesterday I was in Kabokweni with the New Hope team. We had a good afternoon preparing for the feeding, spending time with the volunteers and waiting for the kids to arrive. It was a long, hot afternoon and the kids had barely gotten there when we had to leave. Well, we couldn't just drive on by! A smile.what a difference it can make in your day. The Shaw's: Things are just a little different in South Africa
http://shawsmissions.blogspot.com/2010/08/things-are-just-little-different-in.html
Monday, August 2, 2010. Things are just a little different in South Africa. Instead of graduation, they have Matric. Instead of Senior prom, they have Matric dance. And there sure aren't a lot of dresses to choose from! We really went with the 80's Madonna look. And it came out great, don't you think? The after party was at the Botanical Gardens. John was the good dad and picked her up at 3am. Because here, you can't drive until you are 18.which is great when your daughter goes out to a dance!

Sunday, June 6, 2010. Things you don't want to hear your husband say when he's in another country. 1 "They are taking us to jail now". 2 "My phone is almost dead". It's really not good when #2 immediately follows #1! I'm in Xiaxia and they are taking us to jail NOW" "For what? Paperwork stuff. Mark is on his way but the guy won't wait. My phone is going dead, so you probably can't get a hold of me. Gotta go." "Turn off your phone and I'll call back in an hour.". Not a fun conversation!
Craving Grace: The Heart of the Matter is the Matter of the Heart
http://cravingrace.blogspot.com/2011/11/heart-of-matter-is-matter-of-heart.html
Tuesday, November 22, 2011. The Heart of the Matter is the Matter of the Heart. As I was reading through my many posts, I had forgotten the sheer number of experiences that had taken place during my journey. I caught myself off guard reading through all of the stories, trials, and events took place in those 12 months; experiences that shook me to the core and experiences most people will never understand. With world AIDS day coming up on December 1. Three girls in one week found to be pregnant; all three...

Wednesday, October 19, 2011. Patience: A Virtue to Passion. Some (certainly not all) media outlets report that 3000 people have died in the protests since they began. Oh, how about that famine in East Africa? Well, took some effort but I found an article from yesterday saying that 750,000 people, many of them children, are still facing a death sentence. Craving Grace: November 2007

Sunday, November 18, 2007. Would she have gone on to university? Would she have been able to provide a brighter future for her and her child? These things race through my mind. Today I sat and read all of the applications and essays of the youth who have applied for next years program. I made it through about half of them before the overwhelming feeling of pressure and sadness hit me like a ton of bricks. How do I tell three of these youth that they will not be accepted into the program. How? Don’t...
