True Stitches: Rugs'n'Hugs
http://truestitches.blogspot.com/2015/08/rugsnhugs.html
To join, to make or mend, to decorate. Friday, August 14, 2015. One of the reasons you haven't heard from me lately is that I helped organise our Gabriola Hookers biannual event that happened last Saturday. It was held at the Commons, our collectively owned community centre. Thirty-five hookers from southern Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands joined us for the day. We also had a show and sale that had over 200 members of the public coming through. There were several areas to work in. And that's all Bl...

True Stitches: February 2015
http://truestitches.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
To join, to make or mend, to decorate. Saturday, February 28, 2015. I last gave you a progress report on the Codex. Piece on January 31, so I guess I'm due. It may not seem to changed much from last time. But I have added two partial weasels, a wolf, a porcupine, and a "manitou" - the weird little critter with the curly tail in the lower right. Oh, and a whole lotta foliage. The design runs over the edges as if it were an endless field. I sincerely hope I will be done before the end of March! I collected...

True Stitches: August Linen
http://truestitches.blogspot.com/2015/07/august-linen.html
To join, to make or mend, to decorate. Monday, July 13, 2015. It's not August yet, but when I went into the bedroom the other evening, the sultry amber light reminded me of late summer. I took a series of photographs without moving anything - this is the jumble of my life. I was thinking of skin, and stone, form and time. And I miss my clean white linen and my fancy French cologne. So inviting on this very cold morning at 3am! Please forgive me for using word verification. The spam robots got to me.

Flowing Arrow Horse | Creativity in Exile
https://creativityinexile.wordpress.com/2009/12/03/flowing-arrow-horse
Follow your creative spirit, and it will bring you home. December 3, 2009 by Laurie. Shortly after I moved back to Japan last spring, my husband and I attended the annual exhibition of. At Sumida Park in Tokyo’s Asakusa district. Later, my husband tells me that the loudspeaker blared out the young man’s failu...

True Stitches: Carpet Slippers
http://truestitches.blogspot.com/2015/07/carpet-slippers.html
To join, to make or mend, to decorate. Friday, July 17, 2015. Are carpet slippers for wearing whilst walking on carpets, or are they made out of carpets? Maybe they could be both! I lifted a motif and colour scheme from a book on middle eastern textiles. But they feel super cosy. Or should I say "It feels super cosy." The second slipper is still to come. I hope what I learned from the first speeds things up a bit. Let's hope they match. Oh i bet those are comfy! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

To join, to make or mend, to decorate. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. May, 2006 to April, 2015. I was hoping I might have something new and amazing to show you, as this marks my 800th blog post and it would be nice to have some pretty decorations to add to the festivities. But alas, I am in that dull between-projects phase, so will have to make do with a selection from the archives. But I do have a story to share with you. My first thought was "Good question! Links to this post. Friday, April 24, 2015. Since...

True Stitches: Another Mystery Cloth
http://truestitches.blogspot.com/2015/07/another-mystery-cloth.html
To join, to make or mend, to decorate. Saturday, July 18, 2015. I picked up this large-ish cloth at an estate sale. The technique is shibori, but at first I thought it was Korean because of the (rather odd) yin-yang symbol at the centre. Then I realised there were eight trigrams surrounding the centre, instead of the four on the Korean flag, so I researched a little further and figured out it is a bagua. Who taught me much of what I know. Double overcast in opposite directions on a fold? I dont think tha...
