Tomato Cages | James' Garden
https://jamesgarden.wordpress.com/2013/07/06/tomato-cages
A way to track and journal our garden from year to year…. July 6, 2013. I have tried various tomato cages. These are working the best so far…but it is WAY early. I built cedar box cages a couple years ago but I couldn’t store them well. They are made of PVC pipe. I drilled holes in the larger pipes and just inserted the 1/2 inch pipe through it. It’s tight, but I can easily pull them apart and store them for the winter. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

The objective is to track our progress from year to year. I used to write stuff down in a notebook, but pictures really tell the story. So I’ll post a lot of pictures here. Don’t engineers even grow tomatoes? | Garden Rant
http://gardenrant.com/2013/07/dont-engingeers-even-grow-tomatoes.html
Uprooting the Gardening World. Shut Up and Dig. Don’t engineers even grow tomatoes? Guest Rant by Rebecca Caley. The tomato plants are so thick and sturdy, nothing can bring them down. That’s their story and they’re sticking to it. Never trust a tomato. Their goal is to reproduce by getting rotten tomatoes on the ground. They will fight the trellis, the cage, gravity. They will win. Don’t engineers grow tomatoes? Isn’t there some principle about a wide base being most stable? Fall over, right? The lack o...
