October 18th, 2007 - route66trip. 18 October 2007 @ 11:59 pm. Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mileage - 170,007. Route 66 Trip - 1,507. 2,932 miles - Trip Total. The owner of the cafe sponsers the events and was out serving hot dogs. He insisted on giving me one for free since I had just driven in from Amarillo. :). We had some "ugly crust" pie in Adrian, Texas; the official mid-way point between Chicago and L.A. The sign says 1139 miles each way. We arrived in Albuquerque about 6:30 CDT.

October 21st, 2007 - route66trip. 21 October 2007 @ 07:22 pm. Kingman, Arizona. Mileage - 170,597. Route 66 Trip - 2,097. 3,522 miles - Trip Total. It was cold and windy when we got up in Seligman this morning. We waited until daylight to take some more photos before leaving town. It's a beautiful drive from Seligman to Kingman. An old store on the tour guide list of places to visit. We got to the First Southern Baptist Church of Kingman in time for their Bible study and then worship.

October 6th, 2007 - route66trip. 06 October 2007 @ 07:54 pm. Our Trip is Getting Close! This isn't the official start of our trip to Chicago to begin Route 66, but it's close. It's just around the block from our house near the gazebo and large Pear near Pearland City Hall. I drove over at the end of September to drop off my water payment.

Ann's sister brought this cake over last night and had a special early birthday party for Ann. We left Springdale at 9:00 and made a quick stop at the old Wal-Mart museum in Bentonville for Ann could be photographed there with her Monk bobble-head doll. October 9th, 2007 - route66trip. 09 October 2007 @ 09:28 pm. Mileage 167,625 - Trip Total 550 Miles. We had a nice visit with Ray and Martha this morning and then left at about 9:45. We got to my sister's house at about 3:00. Two other sisters were able to meet us at Western Sizzlin' in Russelville and we had a nice visit there. Our other sister is the superintendent of the high school we all attended and she had to go back for a basketball game and didn't get to come see us.

October 13th, 2007 - route66trip. 13 October 2007 @ 02:38 pm. We had a long drive ahead of us at Rolla so we stayed on I44 to St. Louis and then took I270 around the north. We got a view of the "Chain of Rocks" bridge across the Mississippi just south of the I270 bridge, but didn't stop. We turned northeast on I55, but took occasional exits to old 66 just to check things out. My step-uncle Clyde Halbrook had an onld Dodge pickup like this back in the 50's when I helped in the hay fields. A section of the...
