James' MTB Blog

Tuesday, August 20, 2013. Today I wanted to do a similar route, but with a little different spin. It would more closely resemble a shorter version of my original Archipelago route that I last rode in 2009. From the summit I dropped down part of the west face and then rode down the Gliderport trail and across Carmel Valley Road. From there I rode through Black Mountain Community Park, up to the fun singletrack most are calling Knoll, and then down through the artichokes and along the Lusardi Loop. Until t...

James' MTB Blog: Daley Ranch

http://jamesmtbblog.blogspot.com/2010/08/daley-ranch.html

Sunday, August 1, 2010. Much to my surprise, I was able to mix in a last minute spin around Daley this evening with Mark and Doug. After a day of errands and whatnot I made it home in time to pack up the Tahoe and get over to Daley right around 5:30. I haven't really taken advantage of the longer days much this year, but at least today I was making the most of the daylight I had. From Crest we took the road back to the cars and hung out for a bit catching up. I always really enjoy riding with Doug an...

James' MTB Blog: RR: Los Penasquitos Canyon/Del Mar Mesa

http://jamesmtbblog.blogspot.com/2008/02/rr-los-penasquitos-canyondel-mar-mesa.html

Saturday, February 9, 2008. RR: Los Penasquitos Canyon/Del Mar Mesa. Today I rode LPQ/DMM with the Skyline MTB group. The attendees consisted of Billy, his wife Helenka, and Joel and Nichole. We also rode the short section at the end of Cobbles that I love, which has some short, quick up and downs that feel like a roller coaster. Awesome. From there we decided to take a few minutes to ride over to the waterfall and see if the recent rains had caused the water level to rise. The water level turned out...

James' MTB Blog: RR: Elfin Forest

http://jamesmtbblog.blogspot.com/2008/09/rr-elfin-forest.html

Tuesday, September 9, 2008. I was fortunate enough to have the following week off from work, and after taking Monday off to recover, I figured I'd better get a ride in before the week got away from me. I decided it was important to make good on my pledge to try to ride more and improve my fitness, and what better way to do that then head out to a close by trail that was one of the few remaining on my 2008 Ride List. If I needed to without guilt. I got to the trailhead. Sequoia, but was glad about that.

James' MTB Blog: Giving it another go...

http://jamesmtbblog.blogspot.com/2013/08/giving-it-another-go.html

Friday, August 2, 2013. Giving it another go. There was a time when this blog was updated regularly. A small but loyal readership seemed to like it. My motivation for starting it in the first place was that as a beginner mountainbiker I benefited greatly from internet resources like www.mountainbikebill.com. And helpful posters on local message boards, and wanted to provide some additional info and commentary to others like myself. Then, on New Years Eve 2010, this happened:. And then we were a family of...

James' MTB Blog: RR: North Lake Hodges

http://jamesmtbblog.blogspot.com/2008/03/rr-north-lake-hodges.html

Sunday, March 2, 2008. RR: North Lake Hodges. Before I heard from Sean, I had been considering climbing Bernardo Peak today. But since he had a rough night before we decided to skip the climb and just have a fun social ride through Hodges. I have no regrets, because our ride was a lot of fun, but I want to get to that Peak sooner than later. I'm overdue. Here are the stats:. Total Distance: 11.88 miles. Average Speed: 7.0 mph. Top Speed: 22.4 mph. Bike: Specialized FSR XC Pro. Labels: 2008 Ride List.

Quaestionis- Who cares what it means. Saturday, April 16, 2005. 6:06 AM, IRVINE. So we're off, not much to report, other than the discovery of the coolest radio station ever: 93.5 FM KDAY, where they play "hip hop hits of today and back in the day." I can't say enough about this, and considering the vast wasteland that is SD radio, we need a little KDAY down south ASAP. A rescue mission was briefly contemplated, but ultimately we decided against it. Poor Spongebob. Friday, April 15, 2005. Entry Two: Lets...

Quaestionis: Enough with the Rain

http://quaestionis.blogspot.com/2008/01/enough-with-rain.html

Quaestionis- Who cares what it means. Monday, January 28, 2008. Enough with the Rain. I generally like the rain. But enough is enough. After the debacle at Daley on Saturday. All I wanted was a chance to do another ride to redeem myself. But steady rains on Sunday killed any chances of that happening. So I turned my hopes to tonight's hockey game, excited that I could get back on the rink after three weeks of because of holidays and bye weeks. But the rain again intervened. Quaestionis- Who cares what it means. Tuesday, April 19, 2005. Sacramento Trip Recap Part III: Homeward Bound. So after the successful Pibb acquisition, we headed for home. Our departure time was about 6 PM, and based on how long it took us to get to SAC, and factoring in a now fully loaded trailer, I was not looking forward to the drive. Guarded by 40 foot fencing tipped with barbed wire, the multi-story facility is set a few miles off the freeway and is clearly visible in the distance. It is large,...

Quaestionis- Who cares what it means. Sunday, February 03, 2008. We had a small gathering for the Super Bowl today, and it was a blast. The Nelsons, Moores, Walkers, and Skeens all came over again, and a good time was had by all. Dan dip was consumed, jello slurped, and shrimp popped. Rachel is an amazing cook. The game was better than expected, and most of the room found themselves rooting for the underdog Giants as the game went on. The place practically exploded after David Tyree's catch.

Quaestionis- Who cares what it means. Saturday, January 26, 2008. Adam, Daley, and Pibbs. Adam came down this weekend for a visit from the CHP Academy. It was the first time I had seen him since he left, and I was surprised to see that he had buzzed his hair! Apparently they make you do that at the Academy. I had a MTB ride planned for today, and he said he could use the cross-training, so we gave it a shot. Details of the ride can be found at my other blog here. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
