Life in the Big Easy

Life in the Big Easy. If you also keep up with me on Facebook, you probably already know what this post is about. If not, here it is . About 30 minutes after we heard the shots, Monica took her dog Lucy out back and that's when she saw the lights. Red and blues, flashing all the way into our backyard. She got my attention and I also went out there. Our first reaction: What the ****? Please, oh please don't tell me . Can't we go a day without the news reporting another murder? We average about one per day.

Life in the Big Easy: Flood Zones

http://jamesncupit.blogspot.com/2009/04/flood-zones.html

Life in the Big Easy. I've had some people ask about our location within the city and the probability of flooding. So I of course did my research and I found the elevation map for my zip code (70113):. Less than 1% chance . I'll take it! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). New Orleans, Louisana. Life in the Big Easy: The new digs!

http://jamesncupit.blogspot.com/2009/04/new-digs.html

Life in the Big Easy. First post. Tons of pressure. YIKES! Figured I'd open my blog by showing everyone where I'll be living. My official new address:. New Orleans, LA 70113. Here is the geographical location within the city, about 2 miles from Downtown and the French Quarter and just across St Charles Ave from the Garden District. See the little red bubble with the "A" in the middle? Park or Downtown . all for $1.25. Oh and did I mention, St Charles is where most of the Mardi. Parades run. Booyah. Uh, w...

Life in the Big Easy: Walking, walking, walking ...

http://jamesncupit.blogspot.com/2009/05/walking-walking-walking.html

Life in the Big Easy. Walking, walking, walking . So I’m starting to learn just how much New Orleans really is a pedestrian city, much more so than what I’m used to. There are always a ton of people out walking around, both tourists and locals alike. A straight shot down Josephine to St Charles is about a 7 minute walk, where there are tons of things we’ll need, such as:. Igor’s—a bar/Laundromat/gameroom (aka do your laundry while you shoot pool and drink a beer);. Subway—always delicious;.

http://jamesncupit.blogspot.com/2009/05/happy-mothers-day-post-for-my-mother.html

Life in the Big Easy. Post for my mother, who says I'm not updating my blog enough, haha). Next, I sent some gorgeous South American roses to Kindra for her first Mother's Day. They came with some yellow roses, which everyone knows is the color for "Friendship" so I figured it was fitting as well:. I sent Joanna a text message: “where can I buy wine right now? 8221; She said “try rite aid on st Charles.” Uhh what? The fucking Rite Aid? On the docket for this week: check out the downtown library! I’...

Lucy Makes Three: Lovely Lucy Paige

http://bunmakesthree.blogspot.com/2009/04/lovely-lucy-paige.html

Tuesday, April 14, 2009. Okay, I know it has taken me entirely too long to post this, but believe it or not, I have been quite busy the last few weeks! Born March 20, 2009 at 2:56 am. 7 pounds, 10 ounces. After 14 hours of labor with very little progress (never dilated past 4 cm) but a lot of incredibly intense contractions, beautiful Lucy finally came into the world by c-section early Friday morning. The experience was wonderful and I would not change anything about it. April 14, 2009 at 5:56 PM.

Lucy Makes Three: Big belly and big baby: an update on the Mini Maguire

http://bunmakesthree.blogspot.com/2009/02/little-maguire-update-big-belly-and-big.html

Saturday, February 21, 2009. Big belly and big baby: an update on the Mini Maguire. With the big day rapidly drawing nearer, I thought I should post more pictures to show how stinking enormous my stomach is getting. Holy cow! I have this fantasy that I have reached my very largest dimensions, and that I will not gain a single pound more, and that my circumference will not increase. Unfortunately, I'm sure that this is not to be. That's okay. Tying one's own shoes is overrated, anyhow. Just for grins, I a...

The photographer even caught a shot of Lucy's fit right as she was getting warmed up:. Not something we would order a print of, but cute nonetheless. So here's a pic of me, my new 'do, and my beautiful blue-eyed baby:. Saturday, May 16, 2009. Happy Mother's Day to me! Plus tons of pics. Jerrod gave me a card that literally brought tears to...

Lucy Makes Three: Four month update (it is impossible to come up with clever titles for these things)

http://bunmakesthree.blogspot.com/2009/07/well-its-been-two-months-so-i-guess.html

Friday, July 24, 2009. Four month update (it is impossible to come up with clever titles for these things). Well, it's been two months, so I guess that means it's time for another post. As of last Monday, Lucy is now four months old, and she got a round of vaccinations to celebrate. She now weighs 14 pounds and 8 ounces, is 24.5 inches long, and is in the 75th percentile for height (length? And weight. The doctor also gave us the A-OK to start giving Lucy cereal in addition to milk. Our house is now offi...

Lucy Makes Three: March 2009

http://bunmakesthree.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 13, 2009. This time next week, I'll be someone's mother. The title pretty much says it all! I am being induced at 5:30 am on Thursday, March 19th. In our last few appointments, the doctor has expressed concern about the baby's size, so he felt it was the best move to go ahead and induce once I got past 39 weeks. At 37 weeks, the baby was measuring at 39.5 weeks and was estimated to be over 7.5 pounds already. Here's the belly at 36 weeks:. And here's 37 weeks:. My wedding rings have relocat...

Lucy Makes Three: November 2008

http://bunmakesthree.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Friday, November 21, 2008. The most beautiful face I've ever seen. It's kind of like one of those stupid 3-D image posters; easier to see if you stand back and relax your eyes. But the little Bun's profile is on the left side, pointed slightly downward. Fortunately, it does not yet appear that he or she has inherited my nose, but I guess time will tell on that one. Wednesday, November 19, 2008. This was only two weeks ago but I already feel like my stomach is so much bigger than this! God loves a terrier.

Lucy Makes Three: A Very Merry Half Birthday to Lu!

http://bunmakesthree.blogspot.com/2009/09/very-merry-half-birthday-to-lu.html

Friday, September 25, 2009. A Very Merry Half Birthday to Lu! Lucy turned six months old last Saturday. In a way, I don't feel like she should be six months old yet. But then I think about when she was born and it feels like a lifetime ago. Laps it right up. Progress continues on our house. We have a roof and windows, and they started bricking today. We'll probably be able to close and move in late October or early November. Can't happen soon enough. We are popping at the seams in our cur...God loves a t...

Is stimulating for me, it is not unusual to find such scenes in my stories. Since I retired from my career and began freelance writing, I have had the opportunity to travel and see many parts of the country.  It has given me a perspective on different points of view in other areas of the nation. I hope that you enjoy these stories. The picture to the right is not me, but since I do not exist, it is a nice face for you to look at. Hahahaha.

The Good Life

Sunday, November 18, 2012. What a difference 24 hours makes! Here is my lovely belly shot on Fathers Day. That night I went into the hospital to be induced at 39 weeks because the doctors were worried this baby was as big as Carter was. My ultrasound at 38 weeks estimated she was already 8 pounds, 8 oz. The next morning I was a four! My doctor came in and broke my water which took me to a five. I had the best nurse who let my body go from there on its own - no pitocin! Six weeks later was Kate's blessing...
