Tuesday, October 22, 2013. Windy City Part 2. I was amazed by the number of people who checked in on my little blog and your kind comments! If you missed the first part of the story, click here to get caught up. Let's get back to the story. Lunch was Giodarno's deep dish pizza. Elaina will be the first to tell you that my Italian pronunciation is almost as good as my Spanish. If Chicago were a food, it would be a deep dish pizza. It was good. I. Was unable to finish. After accounting for the purchase of ...

Told With a Twang: Our State Fair...
http://toldwithatwang.blogspot.com/2013/10/our-state-fair.html
Monday, October 28, 2013. Is the BEST state fair! One beautiful fall evening. No, no.that was the day before and the day before that. One cold rainy evening, three girls ventured out to the State Fair of Texas. We kinda had to- it was the last week that the fair was running and we didn't have any other nights available. Despite the chill and drizzle, fried foods were consumed and fun was had by all. 1 Fletcher's corny dog. You walk straight there.no dawdling allowed. 2 Check out the cars. Something that ...

Told With a Twang: Thing 22: Social Networking in Education
http://toldwithatwang.blogspot.com/2011/07/thing-22-social-networking-in-education.html
Tuesday, July 26, 2011. Thing 22: Social Networking in Education. Our students are very involved in social networking. As educators, it is much simpler to use these natural interests for educational purposes. I've seen templates where students can create a Facebook profile for a character. And while this activity is fine and good, it is best when students are engaged in social networking for authentic purposes. As a comparable, free alternative to Ning. The Frugal Fashion Plate. Told With a Twang: Thing 23: Is it the end or only the beginning?
http://toldwithatwang.blogspot.com/2011/07/thing-23-is-it-end-or-only-beginning.html
Wednesday, July 27, 2011. Thing 23: Is it the end or only the beginning? My favorite discovery was the Weebly sites. They are intuitive and easy to make. The overall product is impressive as well. I am hopeful that I will have the resources to use our websites and blogs daily. You can check out the site that I've started here. My students will be able to use many of the Web 2.0 tools and post their products to their websites. The Frugal Fashion Plate. July 27, 2011 at 11:58 AM. The Frugal Fashion Plate.

Told With a Twang: My Students (and I) Need YOU!
http://toldwithatwang.blogspot.com/2012/03/my-students-and-i-need-you.html
Wednesday, March 14, 2012. My Students (and I) Need YOU! My students have been working on expository writing this year. This is one type of essay they will be writing for STAAR in 12 days (but who's counting? In class, they have been working to better one of their expository essays, and we posted them to a class blog. Our goal is to get a comment for each blog post over Spring Break, and we need your help! Even if you only have 10 minutes to spare, you can comment on several of them in that time.

Told With a Twang: Thing 7b: Google Reader Revisited
http://toldwithatwang.blogspot.com/2011/07/thing-7b-google-reader-revisited.html
Tuesday, July 26, 2011. Thing 7b: Google Reader Revisited. I've recently begun to freak out about STAAR/eoc- not so much about the content but the fear of the unknown. One thing that is known is the emphasis on writing- writing quickly and concisely. For this reason, I've been thinking a lot about how I can integrate more writing in instruction with minimal grumbling. I also want students to have experience quickly generating and communicating ideas. This article. The Frugal Fashion Plate. Life as of Late.

Told With a Twang: Weekend in the Windy City
http://toldwithatwang.blogspot.com/2013/10/weekend-in-windy-city.html
Thursday, October 17, 2013. Weekend in the Windy City. At the beginning of October, Claire, Elaina, and I spent a weekend in the windy city (a.k.a. Chicago). Everyday since then I have thought about how much I want to go back. Every inch of the city is gorgeous, everyone we met was friendly (with the exception of some aggressive taxi drivers, but what else is new), and there are many great places to go. After ditching our luggage at the hotel, we took pictures at the famous bean and walked to Navy Pier.
