Pursuing the Horizon: September 2008

http://www.jamiemoniz.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

This is the story of my first marathon from the first step to the finish line. Check out my fund raising page. Thursday, September 25, 2008. The Best Run of My Training. Breathing in the ocean air, water crashing at my feet and a lighthouse beckoning me further. This was my best five mile run since the first day of training. As we ran upon the sandy path to the lighthouse, water splashed up on the rocks as if to cheer us on. We roasted marshmallows, ate smores and had a blast. Friday, September 19, 2008.

This is the story of my first marathon from the first step to the finish line. Check out my fund raising page. Monday, July 28, 2008. Hills, Miles and a Trip to the Hospital. Or the past two Wednesdays, the team has been incorporating hill repeats into our training. What are hill repeats you ask? By Friday, I could barely walk. Saturday morning, the team was taking a bit of a break with a 6-mile run. This was the perfect opportunity for me to catch up! Limp, limp.sniff, sniff. Me: I have to walk. I c...

Pursuing the Horizon: Bookends

http://www.jamiemoniz.blogspot.com/2008/10/bookends.html

This is the story of my first marathon from the first step to the finish line. Check out my fund raising page. Friday, October 10, 2008. Where was I at the beginning of training? After our 20-mile run, I was having pretty severe pain in my groin. I have become used to experiencing pain after long runs, so I didn't think much of it. Brian. Completed his 5 miles and we went home to ice packs and election coverage. I stayed home and rested Wednesday night and Brian. By Saturday (two weekends ago), I felt re...

Pursuing the Horizon: 18 Miles...This calls for some new shoes!

This is the story of my first marathon from the first step to the finish line. Check out my fund raising page. Thursday, September 4, 2008. 18 Miles. This calls for some new shoes! Life has kept me pretty busy, so I am cramming three weeks worth of training news into one blog. Here we go! August 16th: Ran 16 miles! At one point, Nick said between huffs, "I refuse to let a girl pass me! August 23rd: My birthday! Instead of running, Brian and I went with his brother Trevor and Trevor's wife Rachel to San Di...

My Great Marathon Journey: a walk... ur... run in the park

http://mindstunt.blogspot.com/2008/10/walk-ur-run-in-park.html

My Great Marathon Journey. Wednesday, October 8, 2008. A walk. ur. run in the park. Our training is winding down and marathon day is quickly approaching. What seemed like a vast distance to me three months ago. The run on Saturday was pretty uneventful. I ran with Elaine and Debbie for the full six miles, and we made no stops. well I take that back we made two quick. Went and tackled the bike today at the gym to give her groin a little rest (check her blog for the details on this). This is their weekend ...

My Great Marathon Journey: November 2008

http://mindstunt.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

My Great Marathon Journey. Tuesday, November 18, 2008. It has all come down to this weekend. The five months of training, the early Saturday morning runs, the daily stretching and icing and the countless miles of earth pounding have all amounted to this one day. The days approaching the weekend were charged with some pretty nervous and excited. On Saturday night Team In Training hosted a pasta dinner for the runners, and holy CRAP was this thing AWESOME! And I went through our usual routine, of stretchin...

My Great Marathon Journey: July 2008

http://mindstunt.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

My Great Marathon Journey. Thursday, July 31, 2008. A Team For Better or For Worse. Another early Saturday morning brought another run to our feet. Porter Ranch welcomed us back with an ornery grin, and warmer temperatures. This run would take a shift for the better though – keeping consistent with our alternating weeks of long runs and short runs, we would be running a swift 6 miles today. The hill was as I remembered it, steep and long. I got about half way up when I got the word that Jamie. From about...

My Great Marathon Journey. Saturday, May 24, 2008. First Day of Training. Our first day of our Team In Training. training and I was soaked by the end of it all. Not dripping with sweat as you might guess, but with rain. Yup, it rained our first day of practice. in So Cal of all places! And I started about 30 seconds after the first group. We got to run together for the first three minutes where she then stopped to take her one minute walk and I. Was not too far behind with a 24 minute run time. Keep up w...

My Great Marathon Journey: simmer down now

http://mindstunt.blogspot.com/2008/10/simmer-down-now.html

My Great Marathon Journey. Thursday, October 2, 2008. This week marked the beginning of a gradual decrease in running mileage called the "taper phase" of our marathon training. This decrease in mileage over the next three weeks will give our bodies the opportunity to rest and recover from our previous training, and will culminate with a one mile run the Saturday before our marathon. Try and keep up with me! Give me a beach. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A sudden flash of Brian. Give me a beach.

My Great Marathon Journey: September 2008

http://mindstunt.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

My Great Marathon Journey. Thursday, September 25, 2008. The pinacle of our training. Saturday we embarked on what was to be the longest run of our training program. 20 MILES! That's like running from Pershing Square in Downtown Los. Angeles to the end of the Redondo Pier in Redondo Beach. or running from Pac Bell Park to Walnut Creek. Meant ratcheting back my speed a bit. My legs were confused by this; they wanted to go faster, but I wouldn't let them. It was a back a forth battle for the first ...Was g...

http://mindstunt.blogspot.com/2008/09/out-with-old-in-with-new.html

My Great Marathon Journey. Thursday, September 11, 2008. Out with the old, in with the new. It has been three and half months since I strapped on my first real pair of running shoes. Since then I have taken on over 200 miles of various terrain. My shoes, much like my body, have taken a serious beating, but they wear the scars more then I do. Check it out. Here is what my shoes looked like when I first got them…. 8230;And this is what they look like now…. Pretty crazy, huh? Try and keep up with me! And I'...

My Great Marathon Journey: beach bummin it

http://mindstunt.blogspot.com/2008/09/beach-bummin-it.html

My Great Marathon Journey. Wednesday, September 17, 2008. This past week was truly a blessing to me. Jamie. And I got to go up north to Santa Cruz. And spend a week at beach house with my dad and mom, all my bros and my grandma. The week was a blast. Most of our time was spent down at the beach boogie boarding, building massive sand castles, relaxing and of course running. At night beach bonfires were'a blazin - I brought my didgeridoo. We kept our runs up throughout the week, and on Wednesday, Jamie.

Why I hate ice cream meters. Leave a comment ». Agile teams start their day with the morning standup. This is a daily morning ritual where team members quickly give a status update. We typically try to answer 3 main questions:-. What did I accomplish yesterday? What will I do today? What obstacles are impeding my progress? So this is a very important part of our day. We usually sign-up for stories at the end of the standup, and move on to doing a dev huddle as well. It is almost impossible to make it on ...
