jarradwrites: May 2010

A mad flurry of bike washing, house packing, farewells and flights and i'm back in Canberra, sitting on the family sofa watching Rosellas wash in the fishpond. Time to reflect on the Red Centre Enduro. The first stage got away after a parade behind a police car through the streets of Alice. I fulfilled a dream by giving high-5s to the school kids that lined the streets to cheer us off. Awesome way to start! D1/S2 - 0.3km ITT. Up at 4:30am to catch the school bus out to Trephina Gorge. Our dopey drive...

Last minute bash in the Alice. Ah christmas. riding, eating, sifting. The day of the year really. 7:30 was a nice casual start time for a ride with Po, Suze, Clarke and Julia. What started out as a completely overcast sky, soon cleared to a clear blue one but the cool breeze held firm to give us some great riding conditions. Out on the fence track, up along the helmet track, and return via roo track and 5-ways. a nice way to spend 2.5hours. Po, Suze and Julia on the Helmet Track. 3 days to Buffalo. Logis...

Brindies Circ: Day 2. Day 2: 135km /? Mt Bimberi didn't want to get out of bed in the morning. After a mild night the day dawned with a low cover of cloud, and after breakfasting and packing up we were off along Lone Pine FT by 7am. The condition of this trail wasn't the best, and I think we were all fearing a similar slog to yesterday, so it was heads down while we ticked off the next 10 or so kms. The end of the descent down Lone Pine FT in to the valley. Turning on to Yaouk Rd. Brindies Circ: Day 1.

jarradwrites: Two Sticks / Franklin circuit
http://jarradwrites.blogspot.com/2012/06/two-sticks-franklin-circuit.html
Two Sticks / Franklin circuit. The excitement from the last 2-day ride had hung in the air like a wet fog so it wasn’t too long before a date was set for another tour. The crew would be largely the same this time round, but the gear would not. Monty had recently bought a Salsa Vaya expressly for this kind of ride, and Waz (subbing in for the O/S Regina) was bringing his B.O.B trailer. Day 1: 106km / 2165vm. Day 2: 76km /860vm. jarradwrites: First Look: Revelate Bags
http://jarradwrites.blogspot.com/2012/04/first-look-revelate-bags.html
First Look: Revelate Bags. At Mikey's request I thought I'd pen a few first impressions of my Revelate bags and gear list from my first trip (which, bare in mind wasn't really my first run - that's coming up in afew weeks - it was more of a pre-first run). I bought 2 bags from Revelate Designs. The Pika is Revelate's smaller seat bag, with a stated capacity of 6-12L. It attaches to the seat rails with a thick PVC(? Daily consumables (lunch/dinner and water bladder), rain jacket. View my complete profile.

Back, and at rest. Only a month late in reporting that Paula and I are back in Australia. The rest of our France time was great. We finished the Haute Route, met Gabs in Corsica for a few days walking and eating Broccio, packed up our drippy cave in Bourg and jumped in a car for the final week to really ram home the France-ness.
