Echoes of Peace: August 2007
http://faithechoes.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 30, 2007. The greatest assault on life is war. Politicians convince young men, and women, to sacrifice their lives for freedom. Meanwhile the politicians enjoy their lives. Most of the time, they don't send their children. What does a soldier die for? Think very carefully. How many wars were truly worth fighting? How many could have been avoided by wiser leaders? And why are the deaths of "our side" valiant and bittersweet while the deaths of "their side" are just plain necessary? I just...

Echoes of Peace: May 2007
http://faithechoes.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 31, 2007. Personally. . . I'm feeling rather peaceful tonight, after a stressful week. My fourth son graduated from high school. My fifth son graduated from eighth grade. We have one more left in middle school. In six years all of our boys will have high school diplomas and perhaps we can enjoy our empty nest. Now they're nearly grown. Three have left and gone off on their own, and often I want to call them back. Isn't that the paradox of parenthood? Wednesday, May 30, 2007. She's thrown in...

Echoes of Peace: I'm Back!
http://faithechoes.blogspot.com/2008/05/im-back.html
Wednesday, May 14, 2008. I've been gone for a little while, I know. A busy March led to a busy April and a very intense first two weeks of May. Now I have a breather and I'm very grateful for that. I haven't blogged since February but I have kept close track of the Democratic presidential primary. I cringed when Obama lost and cheered when he won. Tonight was great. He got the endorsement we've waited for and things are looking very good. PS- If you live in Kentucky, or Oregon, remember to vote! How shou...

Echoes of Peace: Final Stretch
http://faithechoes.blogspot.com/2008/05/final-stretch.html
Thursday, May 15, 2008. I have waited for this weekend for months. While every other state, nearly, in the union went through the primary process, I dreamed of the time when it would be our turn here in Kentucky. Our primary is next Tuesday. I'm ready. I'll spend part of the weekend calling or canvassing for Obama, and I'll be busy on Election Day, too. This is it. I'm fired up and ready to go. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Echoes of Peace: Choosing Wisely
http://faithechoes.blogspot.com/2008/02/choosing-wisely.html
Monday, February 04, 2008. Tomorrow millions of Americans will go to the polls or caucuses and vote for a Democratic presidential candidate. Unfortunately I won't be among them- our primary isn't held until May- but I will be watching closely to see what happens, especially in my home state of Missouri. I'm doing what I can to make sure voters know about Barack Obama. He's more than a few nice slogans and campaign rallies. Much more. What Obama did learn was that people can live vastly different lives an...

Echoes of Peace: An Endorsement
http://faithechoes.blogspot.com/2008/01/endorsement.html
Monday, January 28, 2008. The big news today was the endorsement of Senator Ted Kennedy for Barack Obama. Very big news. My endorsement means nothing in the world of politics and I've been debating whether to mention it on this blog or simply stay quiet. A news story prompted me to speak up. We truly must look beyond race and gender. Barack Obama is the best person for the office of the presidency in 2008. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). What is your religious orientation? Echoes of Peace: May 2008
http://faithechoes.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 23, 2008. I don't usually post -on Fridays but Hillary Clinton's outrageous comment must be addressed. I would like to add my voice. The 60s were a hopeful and very turbulent time. I remember them well. President John F. Kennedy was shot when I was in second grade. Can you imagine a 7-year old learning what the word "assassination" means? For the last few months I've felt like I was living a dream, afraid to wake up. Thursday, May 22, 2008. Every day this week I've thought about what I would ...

Echoes of Peace: April 2007
http://faithechoes.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 30, 2007. Today the U.S. State Department announced a 25% increase in global terrorism. This is passing for major news. Isn't that just what the anti-war movement was predicting more than four years ago? How can you illegally invade another country and expect it to go off without a hitch. How can you propagate violence and not expect it to spread? Thursday, April 26, 2007. The wait for the veto begins. What will Congress do then? Wednesday, April 25, 2007. My methods are simple. Sleep a...

Echoes of Peace: June 2007
http://faithechoes.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 07, 2007. What I'll Do During My Summer Vacation. This is my last post for a while. Next week we're moving. For the first week or so after our move we won't have an internet connection. I plan to spend the time writing. When I'm not unpacking, of course. I'll also read. While packing, I found several books I forgot I had. I'm looking forward to digging into them. I'll see you again in early July. Enjoy. Wednesday, June 06, 2007. Yearning for a Peaceful Society. A few weeks ago, there was a...

Echoes of Peace: October 2007
http://faithechoes.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 31, 2007. This has been a horrible week for me to try writing a decent blog. Maybe I'm not feeling very peaceful. At least not when I look at the headlines. More than half of what I read or hear is about Iran- either for or against war, the failures in Iraq and Afghanistan, the persecution of the Palestinian people, or unethical behavior by our so-called leaders. There doesn't seem to be much to be happy or proud about, at least not on the national or international scene. Like the immu...
