Canadiana Jan and the Weblog of Doom. If adventure has a name. it must be Jan Kat. No, really. Stay with me on this. Saturday, September 22, 2007. Time for our annual trip. Out to the Island to visit my folks and their pets. This is not one of their pets, though. Tuesday, September 18, 2007. Tried a new beer this week: San Miguel Lager. It's quite good. I think this batch was originally intended for export to Australia, though. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Click on Newer Posts. 2008 ; modified by Jan Kat.

Canadiana Jan and the Weblog of Doom. If adventure has a name. it must be Jan Kat. No, really. Stay with me on this. Wednesday, February 20, 2008. We watched the lunar eclipse with the kids this evening, Donnie Darko setting up the rickety old telescope I got from my folks when I was about his age. I wonder if any New Agers were watching it from the observatory in Chichen Itza. I really should go there and find out. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Click on Newer Posts. 2008 ; modified by Jan Kat.

Canadiana Jan and the Weblog of Doom. If adventure has a name. it must be Jan Kat. No, really. Stay with me on this. Monday, April 23, 2007. I saw a billboard beside the road on my way home today. It said: one in five people who read this will develop a mental illness. My first thought was that thousands of Calgary drivers must have read it already. But no, it's new. it couldn't have affected anybody. Fortunately, many Calgary drivers are illiterate. Many more are just plain blind. Here it Goes Again.

Mexican vacation (Jan. 12 - 18 '07): Exploring (Jan. 14 '07)
http://jan-kat-070203.blogspot.com/2007/02/exploring-jan-14-07.html
Mexican vacation (Jan. 12 - 18 '07). I was up with the sun at 6:30AM. Well, "up" in the sense that I had moved from my bed to the hammock outside. It was 26C, humid, and peaceful, even with the crash of the ocean waves on the Caribbean shore a few metres away. Was this a dream? It feels like it now, except for where I'm still getting chafed by the beach sand. Exploring (Jan. 14 '07). Back to my blog.

Shakers and Pumpkins
Tuesday, October 30, 2007. Time to carve the pumpkins for Hallowe'en. Baby wanted a kitty pumpkin. It required some planning. Pumpkin chunks. ugh. I left it a bit late this year, so Coreen cleaned out Baby's pumpkin and mine while I was at work. I tried something different this year for my pumpkin. It was supposed to look like Frankenstein's monster, based on the famous photo of Boris Karloff. In the role, but it didn't really work that well. Still, they all looked pretty cool in the dark.
Connections
Sunday, January 6, 2008. The new TV is mounted to the wall above the shelf where the old one sat. When my Dad built that shelf I don't think he intended it to hold a TV, and as the shelf was beginning to sag a bit it's a relief to get the TV off of there. The VCR, DVD player, funky retro rabbit-ears, and speakers are all connected to the TV (it's nice not having to use a separate remote control for the sound) but I've replaced the MythTV with the kids' former PC running the free and excellent GB-PVR.
The Basement Window
Sunday, October 7, 2007. There are a couple of spare rooms in the basement which — when we moved in. Had pink carpet on the floors. We had taken out the last of that carpet in preparation for laminate (the same stuff I used for the computer lab. But first we wanted to put windows in those rooms as well. The kids helped to stamp down the dirt in the hole as Coreen started adding gravel for drainage. Beautiful day to be working outside. We'll get right on that, I'm sure. after. We've figured out what will ...

The Adventures of Canadiana Jan. If adventure has a name. it must be Jan Kat. No, really. Stay with me on this. Friday, August 10, 2007. Fish, Bugs, and Automobiles. We went to downtown Victoria to visit Pacific Undersea Gardens. And the Victoria Bug Zoo. Victoria sure is a beautiful city. We arrived at Pacific Undersea Gardens. Pacific Undersea Gardens takes you under the surface of the harbour. We saw a really ugly eel, starfish, and some other odd critters. Next stop: the Bug Zoo. To see the movie).
