I let the conversation drift into an area that might be a bit of a minefield, and when I needed to back out of the conversation, I did it abruptly, which made my friend feel uncomfortable. I was having some trouble with hip/foot pain at the time and it made things tough. More than one woman went out of her way to help me out when I needed an extra hand, or when I needed just a bit of compassion. We get so used to abnormal, we forget what normal looks like.
