Kent's Korner: Biking in Oakland
http://kentlewan.blogspot.com/2012/01/biking-in-oakland.html
Technology, politics, the environment, and random scribblings. Friday, January 13, 2012. Yesterday after work I biked 6 miles from my office near downtown to Darin's house. I dispute the finding of the author that biking in cities is bad for you. After some huffing and puffing, I arrived, sweaty and hot, at my destination. My host was gracious to fetch me a glass of water so I could cool off while listening to our teleconference call for the next 30 minutes! Please submit your comment here.

Kent's Korner: January 2012
http://kentlewan.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Technology, politics, the environment, and random scribblings. Saturday, January 21, 2012. I made bread today. I used a rye bread recipe I got from a colleague who introduced me to his homemade rye bread made from sourdough starter. The ingredients are a mixture of white and wheat flour, rye flour, caraway seeds and some salt. Pretty simple, actually. I think the caraway seeds are the most important ingredient, as they give the bread its distinctive flavor. Bread Of course, I do this AFTER failure at bak...

Technology, politics, the environment, and random scribblings. Thursday, February 25, 2010. My favorite athletes of the games? It's frustrating to have to watch so much figure skating. all that glamour, drama, and pretty outfits make me feel old, inflexible and lame. I suppose I could subscribe to some kind of pay-per-view, and get those sports I want. But cable TV? Please. don't want it. Links to this post. Thursday, February 11, 2010. Berkeley Daily Planet to cease printing. It is truly a sad day for f...

http://kentlewan.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Technology, politics, the environment, and random scribblings. Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Musings on the Green Mayors Forum. So last week I was in the news a bit for not inviting all the mayoral candidates to the "Sierra Club Green Mayoral Forum." This was an interesting and unaccustomed role to be playing. I'm usually not very public. In fact I only joined the Sierra Club to go hiking and meet girls! And then he promptly posted my entire email. Claiming I mistook him for a candidate! Technology, politics, the environment, and random scribblings. Thursday, November 04, 2010. Election Ruminations and Regrets. So last night I watched the election results roll in like all of you and I was of course disappointed in the national change in power in Congress. Our fellow Americans appear to have a very short historical memory. They are blaming Democrats for the problems caused by the guys who were in power before they were elected. But I am preaching to the choir here. I am first of all sadde...

Kent's Korner: June 2011
http://kentlewan.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Technology, politics, the environment, and random scribblings. Tuesday, June 14, 2011. Now if I had been smart, I would have taken some "before" pictures of the carpet and then also the "after" pictures to impress you with the result. As a matter of fact, I do. Have some sections of the carpet still uncleaned (because most of the furniture needs to be cleared, it's a multi-stage process with me.) So here they are:. By the way, there is no environmental angle to this post. I could have at least used a...
