Monday, 14 October 2013. I love the rough look of the wood. It actually looks like it's constructed of door panels, but it's just paint on canvas. And it covers about 6 feet of horizontal space, enough to cover my office corner of my living room and then some. Sunday, 13 October 2013. To complete the faux finishing, we found it easier to work on each panel individually. We disassembled the divider and laid each panel out flat to work on it. Next post: The Finished Divider. Saturday, 30 November 2013. An Antique Carved Room Divider: The process continues. To add the filigree emblem, I adhered a stencil to the surface and applied texture mixture with a putty knife. I smoothed the surface, then pulled the stencil off. The emblem is now about 1/8" raised from the surface. After allowing the emblem to dry, I sanded it gently to smooth the edges. I applied an intercoat, then began the process of glazing. The glaze inside the panels is a bit darker than on the outer frame.
