My poetry book, Quick, To The Hothouse. Is now available from dancing girl press. It contains poems about cowgirls, kissing, dandelions, Eyjafjallajoekull, Lee Hazelwood and rope burns on a Sunday morning, and the Glasgow subway system. One of the poems will be also be featured in Salt's Best British Poetry 2012. A guarantee of quality! And when I next see you there will be hugging and gin.

I play cello in Razor Cunts. Riot grrl punk purveyors of distorted cello noises, with the disgustingly talented Ambika Thompson. Recipe: Add The Raincoats, Lydia Lunch, Miranda July, Bikini Kill, Yoko Ono, X Ray Spex, ESG and Mary Poppins and mix in a blender for roughly 25-30 years. Then spice with cellos and stripes and dirty words and drums and distortion and love. You've been Razor Cunted. Listen to our EP, Chickmeat. Get in touch at razorkunts@gmail.com.

The Best British Poetry 2012 anthology, published by the fabulous Salt, will feature my poem "This Cowgirl's Lament". Read it. And crack your whips for all the lovely ranchgirls. Please tell me of the smell of the moon is now published at the esteemable Ink, Sweat and Tears. Read it, read other things, here. I will be in beautiful Paris in the springtime tonight and I will read a story in a gallery as part of an event organised by Upstairs at Duroc. Find out more. I'm about to start interning with SAND.
Jane Flett - Readings
http://www.janeflett.com/readings.html
In the past, I’ve read at Shakespeare and Co, the Edinburgh International Book Festival, and pretty much every bookshop in Berlin, as well as touring all over Europe, as covered by Drowned in Sound. I've told stories to an almost-deserted whisky distillery in the Scottish highlands, a castle full of owls and Brazilian graffiti murals, and an abandoned airport that's been taken over by kites and allotments. Also, sometimes I wake people up by hiding at the bottom of their bed and whispering fanciful tales.

words that loiter: August 2015

Wednesday, 26 August 2015. Weird little story about language and love for y'all at Crab Fat Magazine. Last week, on the balcony while we drank strawberry daiquiris, gleeful and pink in the sun, my lover told me stories of the birds. The point where the acid kicked in and they watched the swallows plucking insects right out of the sky. How, as they itched and scratched their swollen bites, they seemed like talismen, saviours even. They said, whenever they see swallows it. S going to be alright. The things...

Saturday, 24 January 2015. Winter is dark and beds are warm, and the girl needs some kind of power to help her transition from her nest to the world. It is not a big transition—she thinks often of much larger ones, of her friends, their bodies playing catch-up with the Me that is stuck inside—but it is a tricky enough one for this day, when it is cold outside. Is not the correct word. When she thinks about it, the word SCUM is precisely the thing that makes her strong. What are you to this world? Earnest...

words that loiter: October 2014
http://wordsthatloiter.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Friday, 31 October 2014. Excerpt from something recent. I'm totally back to finishing a short story a month, and it feels damn good. I didn’t want to disturb him. The boy princess is a paper sack of contradictions—part brittle sugar-glass, part thick, sure flesh. The pebbles made an empty thwack when they hit the water and I thought of wishes and wells. If I could be granted three true things by the wish master, what would they be? To be the stream, nuzzling at that grubby lace? Monday, 27 October 2014.
words that loiter: Wagenplatz
http://wordsthatloiter.blogspot.com/2015/07/wagenplatz.html
Wednesday, 1 July 2015. Last night at the Wagenplatz. All elderflower schnapps and neon rainbows,. Wide eyes like webs in the dark. Still waiting for the horse-crack of summer. And when I woke, I barely believed in the sunbeam's elbow. Forcing the curtain aside. Still playing at kids and astronauts,. You whispered just good friends. You let these words sink into my thighs. Then, romantic as a slow canal, you draped your limbs round me, weeping. Willows tangled in slinked algae, the punchline to the joke.

Monday, 11 August 2014. I wake curdled and plot ways to make the day acceptable. All-girl groups, loud and louder. Slow coffees. Scratching an insect bite all the way to the blood. I drop a glass, my favourite glass, and in the slo-mo instant of falling, I curse myself, my life and gravity. But the glass bounces without a crack and for a moment I let myself feel wonderful. Too many hours of sleeping and I am bloated and loose like tomatoes watered too many times. I let my own metaphors take root. I g...

FART AND THE CITY. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. POWER UP Jewelry by LSD. Monthly Archives: May 2015. May 27, 2015. I’m inspired. It’s time for a glowing review of Chickmeat, the debut EP of Razor Cunts. This riot girl punk band popped up out of nowhere just about overnight, and they are freaking on fire right now. A femme fatale duo with furiously grinding cellos and thumping drum beats, Razor Cunts are the Rasputina. And ex-Anna Thompson Ambika Thompson. No No No No (No No No No) ...

September 29, 2017. 8230;with the sky-rocketing house prices in Auckland and elsewhere, a big demand for rentals (never mind rentals which should, in all decency, reach a minimum living standard) plus the influx of new residents to the Wairarapa and consequently the reduction of houses on the market for sale.
