Jane's Fruit &Veg Patch: Busy Busy...

http://janefruitandveg.blogspot.com/2010/05/busy-busy.html

Janes Fruit &Veg Patch. This will hopefully be a record of the progress we have made so far in the forray into 'grow our own' and the highs and lows that go with it all. Sunday, 9 May 2010. Spring finally appeared and now we are having another horrible cold spell. It's been really wintry and horrible, not my kind of gardening weather at all. And yet 2 weeks ago it was blazing hot and shorts weather. So it's been a long time since last post and lots has happened:. Hey will be fine. They are coming though.

Jane's Fruit &Veg Patch: Not much occuring

http://janefruitandveg.blogspot.com/2009/08/not-much-occuring.html

Janes Fruit &Veg Patch. This will hopefully be a record of the progress we have made so far in the forray into 'grow our own' and the highs and lows that go with it all. Sunday, 30 August 2009. Except for runner beans coming out of our ears at home and at Nanna's. I cannot give them away anymore, we are all beaned out! I have even started off some elderberry and runner bean wine to try and use some up. In fact homebrew is what has been happening most here. But at least I will go with a drink in my hand.

Jane's Fruit &Veg Patch: Spring is on it's way...

http://janefruitandveg.blogspot.com/2010/02/spring-is-on-its-way.html

Janes Fruit &Veg Patch. This will hopefully be a record of the progress we have made so far in the forray into 'grow our own' and the highs and lows that go with it all. Friday, 19 February 2010. Spring is on it's way. I wound the veg garden down over the winter, and am now planning and have started sowing for this year. I managed to clean the inside of the g/h thoroughly the other week and it is now probably cleaner than my actual house! I have moved some strawberries inside to give them a kickstart.

Janes Fruit &Veg Patch. This will hopefully be a record of the progress we have made so far in the forray into 'grow our own' and the highs and lows that go with it all. Friday, 28 May 2010. Very excited today as my boys have helped to unearth the first spuds - this was a new experience for Dominic who looked completely fascinated although he wasn't too keen on the actual dirt! I had couple of buckets of Lady Christl in the greenhouse and they are now ready. The first tiny tom. The weather is being total...

Jane's Fruit &Veg Patch: Sowing time begins

http://janefruitandveg.blogspot.com/2011/02/sowing-time-begins.html

Janes Fruit &Veg Patch. This will hopefully be a record of the progress we have made so far in the forray into 'grow our own' and the highs and lows that go with it all. Tuesday, 1 February 2011. So having failed dismally to get any really early tomatoes sown over the Christmas and New Year period (I have done this for 2 years running and have been harvesting tomatoes from early June), I have today sown:. I don't like to have too many opened packets. I shall sow a few more in a couple of weeks. Managed t...

My little plot: So, a picture paints a thousand words?

http://chocomylittleplot.blogspot.com/2012/08/so-picture-paints-thousand-words.html

Its all about getting dirty. Hands that is. Soil and seeds and goodbye weeds. Welcome to the plot. Sunday, 26 August 2012. So, a picture paints a thousand words? I've been letting my blogging slip, mainly because I sometimes can't think of what I want to write if anything. Writer's block maybe. Wildlife at the plot and around the site. The tall plants in the pond are Bulrushes (Typha latifolia). My first proper Garlic crop. Water Hyacinth , same pond as Bulrushes. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

My little plot: Yes, the weather IS seasonal!

http://chocomylittleplot.blogspot.com/2012/04/yes-weather-is-seasonal.html

Its all about getting dirty. Hands that is. Soil and seeds and goodbye weeds. Welcome to the plot. Sunday, 29 April 2012. Yes, the weather IS seasonal! The Drought is an environmental situation. It is not a government initiative or action, it is a state of affairs brought about by an imbalance of water user demand and stored water availability. If we are at drought point an the heavens open, there is a long delay before that water hits the reservoir. So, what can we all do to avoid repetition? Water comp...

My little plot: Alternatives and options for edging your raised beds.

http://chocomylittleplot.blogspot.com/2010/12/alternatives-and-options-for-edging.html

Its all about getting dirty. Hands that is. Soil and seeds and goodbye weeds. Welcome to the plot. Wednesday, 1 December 2010. Alternatives and options for edging your raised beds. Try reclaimed skirting boards for an attractive outside! If you can find them, or afford them, old reclaimed floorboards make a sturdy edging. Scaffold boards, used, are popular but not cheap. They are pretty strong though. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Follow me on Twitter. There was an error in this gadget. Picture Win...

My little plot: Frosting The Plot

http://chocomylittleplot.blogspot.com/2010/11/frosting-plot.html

Its all about getting dirty. Hands that is. Soil and seeds and goodbye weeds. Welcome to the plot. Sunday, 28 November 2010. It may be cold outside right now, no, I correct myself, it IS cold out right now. But, one benefit from the ice cap covering the plot has brought about some stunning pictures. The myriad colours of the brassica leaves, lightly dusted with Winter's icing sugar has resulted in some wonderful images. Beetroot wilting as the air turns artic. Young Cabbage leaves dusted by Winter. Subscr...

Thatcham Veg: March 2011

http://thatchamveg.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, 6 March 2011. Saturday night was world book night and having applied for some copies of Nigel Slaters Toast to give out at the allotment that's what I did this weekend! I spent both Saturday and Sunday at the allotment and did loads of digging. More than I have ever done to be honest and now I ache like hell. A day off and 20 miles on a mountain bike in Friday didn't help either! I also got given an incinerater and a couple of garlic bulbs so I burnt the shed and planted the garlic! I took on the...

Monday, 29 March 2010. First Earlies and Gordon. And here are the spuds all laid out like tombstones! I was almost to the end of planting them all when a voice called out "still a bit wet ain't it? Thatcham Veg: Lots of seedlings growing very nicely

http://thatchamveg.blogspot.com/2010/04/lots-of-seedlings-growing-very-nicely.html

Saturday, 24 April 2010. Lots of seedlings growing very nicely. So here are my seedlings which are all doing really well expecially as most of them were in a greenhouse which blew over and the seeds and seedlings were scraped up and repotted! A tray of mixed lettuce and rocket seedlings - these will be planted in the allotment when they are a bit bigger and I grow cut and come again in the greenhouse. Courgettes - 4 varieties and I will grow 2 of each and give the rest away to friends. Nice work. You...
