Sunday, September 19, 2010. I love building sandcastles. It takes me right back to being a kid. I discovered this gorgeous castle on the beach as we walked back to our apartment one afternoon. Even more impressive was the fact that this sandcastle was built by a group of teens - maybe 15 and 16 year olds, I'm guessing. They'd spent hours working on it together and were proudly photographing their creation as we trudged up the beach. I think it looks like something from a story book. We'll just be . A Wom...

Monday, April 26, 2010. What's the collective noun for pumpkins? One word comes to mind . but I don't think I should type it here. Eliza has a 'swear jar' and I'm already in debt to the tune of $11.20. So you get the picture . we have a heap of pumpkins - actually a mountain of pumpkins that our tiny inner city back garden has produced. We harvested them yesterday. We picked 15 pumpkins altogether and they're huge. We have a s* *load of them! Saturday, April 24, 2010. Autumn is finally here. While I didn...

Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Kitchen treasure from another era. I always check out the books when I pop into my local op shop. More than anything, I'm hoping to find a treasure that someone has discarded as trash. I've built up quite a collection of recipe books from the 40s, 50s and 60s. So, when I saw this little beauty I just had to have it. And at the princely sum of. 20 cents I couldn't pass up such a bargain. Bottling fruit in the lounge? What a marvellous idea! Is it like that at your house? It's a s...

The last ten years of my life have been the steepest learning curve I have ever ridden. I love my family tremendously, they mean the world to me, even if they do drive me a little batty at times. I’m so sick of hurting them, but I also have to come to terms with the fact that they are not always going to love the decisions I make. Enter your ...

Tuesday, November 23, 2010. Long since I've done anything remotely crafty so I made the most of a few hours on the weekend to crack onto a new project (I mean, why finish off projects when there are so many new ones to begin! I raided my fabric stash and added some new fat quarters. To make a summer picnic blanket. I love the pinks, greens and yellows. Such pretty summer colours Don't you love the green and white spot? To celebrate the year of the rabbit, I have been cooking all our fave chinese recipes. We all enjoy this Kylie Kwong dish. I have removed all the sugar as the kecap manis is already sweet. I like that the kids get a good serve of red meat, but that I can spice it up for the adults with a hit of salt and sichuan pepper. You can buy H...
