Janet's Humanist Ceremonies: A wonderful memorial ceremony
http://janetshumanistceremonies.blogspot.com/2011/02/wonderful-memorial-ceremony.html
A blog about the ceremonies that I perform on behalf of the Humanist Society of Scotland. Sunday, 27 February 2011. A wonderful memorial ceremony. Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round. Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground? Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight. Or gazed at the sun into the fading night? You better slow down. Don't dance so fast. The music won't last. Do you run through each day on the fly. When you ask "How are you? Do you hear the reply? You'd better slow down.

Janet's Humanist Ceremonies: Lots of different wedding plans
http://janetshumanistceremonies.blogspot.com/2011/01/lots-of-different-wedding-plans.html
A blog about the ceremonies that I perform on behalf of the Humanist Society of Scotland. Monday, 31 January 2011. Lots of different wedding plans. It's my job to help them translate that vision into reality. There is no such thing as a standard ceremony and it certainly isn't the case that one size fits all. Every single couple has a unique story and a unique outlook on life and their ceremony should reflect these things. It's an incredible privilege to be asked to be involved in such a momentous and im...

Janet's Humanist Ceremonies: March 2011
http://janetshumanistceremonies.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
A blog about the ceremonies that I perform on behalf of the Humanist Society of Scotland. Monday, 7 March 2011. The point about all of this is that if you want a Humanist marriage ceremony on a summer Saturday, then my advice is to book as far ahead as possible. Some of my colleagues already have bookings for 2013 so there is no such thing as too soon! So, the moral of the story is 'book early or be prepared to be flexible about days and/or times'. Janet's Humanist Ceremonies: November 2010
http://janetshumanistceremonies.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
A blog about the ceremonies that I perform on behalf of the Humanist Society of Scotland. Sunday, 28 November 2010. I had the pleasure to spend much of Tuesday evening last week with a celebrant colleague Penelope Hamilton. We met for coffee and a chat and she ended up at ours for a meal and a glass or two of wine. Winter ceremonies can bring their own challenges. I'll keep an eye out on their wedding day next year and see whether we made the right decision. A winter wedding could be very romantic. Winte...

There is a lot to think about in the weeks and months running up to a wedding but one thing that you can't get away from is the fact that you must fill out and submit paperwork to the registrar to give notice of your intention to be married. Please check that the details are correct when you collect it. It must be delivered to me before the marriage cer...

Humanist Weddings in Scotland: June 2015
http://humanistweddingsinscotland.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Humanist Weddings in Scotland. The Way I Work. How Much Does It Cost? Thursday, 25 June 2015. Humanism and Christianity: friends or foes? I was delighted to join the reverend Richard Holloway and others as part of this conversation at St Andrew's and St George's church last month, and Liam Fraser who also spoke, pointed me towards this video of the event. It's long, but if you want to know why I think people choose to have humanist weddings, skip forward to 29' 30", where I sum it up in about two minutes.

Humanist Weddings in Scotland: May 2015
http://humanistweddingsinscotland.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Humanist Weddings in Scotland. The Way I Work. How Much Does It Cost? Saturday, 30 May 2015. Ewan and Stewart's Humanist Wedding at The Caves. Look at these photos, then tell me what's missing…. Gaydar didn't exist 23 years ago when Ewan and Stewart got together. They met over the phone: this very one, in fact. The Caves weren't even a glint in Norrie Rowan's eye then either. Yes, this will be a kind of detective story. And these are not realistic portraits of the Groom and Groom. Ewan's very happy family.
