Chirtopolis: Charcoal
http://chirtopolis.blogspot.com/2005/09/charcoal.html
Friday, September 30, 2005. Fot this drawing I covered the entire sheet of paper with charcoal and began to draw into it with a kneadable eraser (probably a gum eraser too). I find limiting the time I can spend on a piece helps make my drawings stronger. I am better able to get the essence of my subject down and I am less likely to overwork the piece if I put time limits on myself. Friday, September 30, 2005. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Chirtopolis: Contour Drawings
http://chirtopolis.blogspot.com/2005/10/contour-drawings.html
Tuesday, October 11, 2005. The formal definition of a contour drawing is: The outline and other visible edges of a mass, figure or object. (from ARTLEX. Contours for me are the essential shape of things. If you can draw the contour of an object and transform it to 2 dimensional form you can begin to see the shapes within the object. Contours are about line and not shading, and it is the thickness of line that gives the illusion of depth. Here are some examples I have done. Tuesday, October 11, 2005.
Chirtopolis: Studio space at last!

I believe that art needs to be accessible for it to be appreciated and that everyone should have access to art (or the arts). Quality arts integration is something I think is important because it is a part of all of our lives. Art integration is more than just a poster done in science or social studies; it is authentic art instruction that can be used in tandem with other subject areas.

Chirtopolis: Another from the sketchbook.
http://chirtopolis.blogspot.com/2005/10/another-from-sketchbook.html
Saturday, October 01, 2005. Another from the sketchbook. This was a quick sketch I did using some beautiful conte pencils my Mother in law brought me back from her last trip home to the Czech Republic. Conte is like chalk only harder. In Canada, if you can find coloured conte it is usually in stick form. These pencils are amazing and the things I can do with them certainly surpass pencil crayons. The website for Creta color. Has them listed as "hard pastel pencils". Saturday, October 01, 2005. Art is mor...

Chirtopolis: The result of gestures...
http://chirtopolis.blogspot.com/2005/10/result-of-gestures.html
Friday, October 14, 2005. The result of gestures. Gesture drawings are great practice for more serious drawings. Here are a couple of sketches that are direct results of plenty of gesture drawing and lots of drawing in general. Friday, October 14, 2005. Your gesture drawings are really good! How long did these drawings take you? I think it would have taken me forever to do anything like these! Just wanted to leave a comment on how wonderful your works are! I never liked drawing in pencil for some reason&...
Chirtopolis: A few from my sketchbook.
http://chirtopolis.blogspot.com/2005/10/few-from-my-sketchbook.html
Saturday, October 01, 2005. A few from my sketchbook. The chip pile up at the mill camp I worked at last year. Egyptian art has always fascinated me. The artistic conventions of how people and gods could be depicted were very strict. This is Anubis and Bast. Anubis weighs the hearts of the dead and feeds those he finds lacking to a monster. Bast protects women and children. I love birds and these were just some random sketchings from memory. Another random sketching from memory. Saturday, October 01, 2005.

I began to paint with the water from each place, deliberately letting it flow, forming waves, landforms, clouds and skies. It was my way of communing, and ultimately my way of. Janet Moore Studio | Contemporary Northern California Fine Art
Contemporary Northern California Fine Art. Janet Moore lives and paints in the northern California fishing village of Bodega Bay. Her landscapes of coastal prairies, ranch land pastures, historic barns and dairy farms capture an authentic sense of rural Sonoma, Marin and Mendocino Counties. Using a simplified palette of just three primary colors and a distinctive minimalistic style, her images suggest a type of visual poetry. All text and images 2018 Janet Moore.
