Our Treasures from Afar: Pictures for Grandpa
http://jacobsjourneyhome.blogspot.com/2015/02/pictures-for-grandpa.html
Monday, February 02, 2015. I haven't updated on my dad in awhile. Oh, let's be real.I haven't updated this BLOG in awhile.}. One thing he has requested is that I post pictures of the kids to the blog. So in no particular order, here is a random sampling of what we have been doing the past month or so. Christmas Day. God answered Dad's prayers to have a memorable day with his family. He also felt well enough to tell the kids one of his famous bear stories. We got all excited a week or so ago when snow sta...

Our Treasures from Afar: November 2014
http://jacobsjourneyhome.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 03, 2014. Farewell, New England. I hinted in my last post about needing to catch up on some news. And then I didn't post. Because I can't get my act together, ya'll. The reason for that is that we are moving South in 10 days. Eeek! Jeff has been working down there since mid-July while the kids and I remained behind to get the house sold. It took awhile, but it finally sold. And now it is time to say goodbye.goodbye to some of our favorite places. And Boston.my favorite city of all. We wi...

Our Treasures from Afar: Digging out from under the boxes
http://jacobsjourneyhome.blogspot.com/2014/12/digging-out-from-under-boxes.html
Monday, December 01, 2014. Digging out from under the boxes. I still feel pretty unsettled due to boxes lying around and only half of our pictures hung, but I can at least see the floor. Sadly, there are few basements in the South, so we no longer have a basement. I let the kids set up their box city in the living/dining room. They were far more creative than my brother and I had been. Soon I heard the obnoxious sound of the pumpkin cutting knives sawing through cardboard. Sorry for the dreadful iphone p...

Our Treasures from Afar: October 2013

Monday, October 21, 2013. Misson Trip Last Days. Sorry it is taking me so long to finish writing about the trip. I'm trying to catch up on life! Just in case any of you are interested! Pictures tell their story better than words. The last night we were there, the kids put on a musical program that was incredible. Not only can they SING, they can dance and act. We enjoyed it so much! And all the songs were in English! These pictures are from another team member as my camera was dead at this point). The re...

Our Treasures from Afar: When there is no snow and you want to go sledding...
http://jacobsjourneyhome.blogspot.com/2014/12/when-there-is-no-snow-and-you-want-to.html
Wednesday, December 17, 2014. When there is no snow and you want to go sledding. We haven't missed the snow. At All. But sometimes, you just need the wind in your hair. Sledding provides that for you - hence the mention of snow. Sunday afternoon the kids got it out again. They made a seat out of a cardboard box and the boys, in an odd act of chivalry, offered to be mules and pull the girls around. These two love to pose. Things went reasonably well. Until one of the mules lost interest and bailed out.

Our Treasures from Afar: Palm Sunday: Lamb Selection Day
http://jacobsjourneyhome.blogspot.com/2012/04/palm-sunday-lamb-selection-day.html
Sunday, April 01, 2012. Palm Sunday: Lamb Selection Day. We are all familiar with the story of Palm Sunday- when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey while the people put threw their coats and palm branches on the ground. I honestly always thought it was a little odd that Jesus would want all that adoration. Not that He didn't deserve it- because He certainly does- but just that He never seemed to want to draw attention to Himself in that way. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanah" wa...

Our Treasures from Afar: Mid-week catch up post
http://jacobsjourneyhome.blogspot.com/2012/04/mid-week-catch-up-post.html
Thursday, April 19, 2012. Mid-week catch up post. Once again, the week has slipped by without me firing off a single post. I ended up staying an extra day in Colorado because my flight got so delayed that I would have ended up getting home at 2 or 3 in the morning. Thankfully, the airline switched me to a flight the next day. So I called Ryan to come back to the airport and get me- and was able to have another evening with him. Su-weet! Insert heavy sigh.}. Insert another sigh.}. I have been making twice...

Our Treasures from Afar: March 2014
http://jacobsjourneyhome.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 26, 2014. Why I haven't been posting on this blog. There are a number of reasons but the main one is that we just aren't that exciting around here lately. Our days kind of repeat and do not lend themselves to multiple blog posts. Oh.there have been some possibilities but I often run out of steam and just mindlessly scroll through Facebook posts at night instead. Pathetic, I know. So I began to pray and ask around. What were other people doing? And what were large families doing? Making t...
