Dawdling with St Francis, near Assisi: - "chi va piano, va sano e lontano". Tuesday, 14 April 2015. There are more posts coming. I have been in very rural areas with limited internet, and photos simply can't load. But I am still loving Umbria, and have just one more day to walk.to Gubbio tomorrow. 15 April 2015 at 01:54. Hi Margaret, as always, such an enjoyment to travel/walk with you. Thanks for sharing and looking forward for more to come! 15 April 2015 at 15:42. Enjoy the time you have left. Life isn...

Festina Lente: Near Vescia
http://dawdlingwalks.blogspot.com/2015/04/near-vescia.html
Dawdling with St Francis, near Assisi: - "chi va piano, va sano e lontano". Friday, 10 April 2015. Well, today I've had quite a short walking time, not quite as planned, but still interesting. I had breakfast at the B&B- Italian style with some traditional Umbrian cake, and some tart that looked freshly made. I couldn't quite eat so much cake for breakfast, but the five Italian men present were all eating up large on it! All was going to plan until I got to where there was some tunnel construction, where...

Festina Lente: Assisi
http://dawdlingwalks.blogspot.com/2015/04/assisi.html
Dawdling with St Francis, near Assisi: - "chi va piano, va sano e lontano". Tuesday, 7 April 2015. Well, I've been here before briefly, but Assisi has blown my socks off again- so beautiful. Lots of sunshine for photos today, but don't let that fool you- there's a biting cold wind and fresh snow on the top of Mt Subiaso. Wifi not all that strong, so I will limit my selection! Tomorrow I will retrace some of the same ground, but also go higher. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Take time to celebrate.

Festina Lente: Leaving Rome
http://dawdlingwalks.blogspot.com/2015/04/leaving-rome.html
Dawdling with St Francis, near Assisi: - "chi va piano, va sano e lontano". Monday, 6 April 2015. I am heading off from Rome in a couple of hours for Assisi. Have an Italian SIM with a small amount of data, so might give quick one photo updates each day, and save some longer posts for when I get wifi. (Possibly that means you'll get multiple posts when I am back in Rome! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Take time to celebrate. The quiet miracles that seek. 8212; John O’Donohue. Festina Lente: Nocera to Costa di Trex
http://dawdlingwalks.blogspot.com/2015/04/nocera-to-costa-di-trex.html
Dawdling with St Francis, near Assisi: - "chi va piano, va sano e lontano". Wednesday, 15 April 2015. Nocera to Costa di Trex. Well today was a toughie, but another great one. Every day of this walk so far has been different in character. Today was more of a rugged underfoot kind of day that made me so glad I had packed two walking poles! It retraced the route over which horsemen carried St Francis back to Assisi when he became ill with his final illness. A feature of walking at present is that there are...

Festina Lente: Pioppo to Biscina
http://dawdlingwalks.blogspot.com/2015/04/pioppo-to-biscina.html
Dawdling with St Francis, near Assisi: - "chi va piano, va sano e lontano". Wednesday, 15 April 2015. Well, it's hard to believe, but I only have one walking day left, to Gubbio tomorrow. And while I've been slathering myself in sunscreen, and even taking the rash step of not carrying my raincoat in my daypack, I'm aware everyone at home has been suffering heavy rains, and now a polar blast to introduce winter. It was so peaceful leaving Pioppo this morning, with the sun shining and the birds singing.

Festina Lente: Vescia to Nocera Umbra
http://dawdlingwalks.blogspot.com/2015/04/vescia-to-nocera-umbra.html
Dawdling with St Francis, near Assisi: - "chi va piano, va sano e lontano". Saturday, 11 April 2015. Vescia to Nocera Umbra. Today was another spectacular walk, over hills surrounding the River Topina Valley, passing through varied villages and towns and hamlets. First there was a climb away from Vescia, about 340m worth, sort of like the Gorge track. Again, I passed lots of olive groves, and got some great views to villages below as well as to distant mountains. As I left this village you could see the ...

Festina Lente: Biscina to Gubbio
http://dawdlingwalks.blogspot.com/2015/04/biscina-to-gubbio.html
Dawdling with St Francis, near Assisi: - "chi va piano, va sano e lontano". Wednesday, 15 April 2015. I woke this morning to see some clouds out my window at the agriturismo in Biscina. I was hopeful that meant it'd be a little cooler on the walk- and it was a little. I also packed my raincoat in my daypack, but never needed it! I knew the day still had fairly big climb ahead, but as it turned out, it was up a twisty winding dirt road, instead of a mountain goat track! Somewhere near the top of my climb ...

Festina Lente: April 2015
http://dawdlingwalks.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Dawdling with St Francis, near Assisi: - "chi va piano, va sano e lontano". Sunday, 26 April 2015. I've put a lot of photos from this trip on Flickr. The album also has some photos in Rome at beginning and end of the trip. Thursday, 16 April 2015. I am sitting at the Fossato railway station, waiting for my train back to Rome. It's homeward bound. Bye bye Umbria. It's been superb getting to know you. We stopped at Nocera Umbra, and then as we were leaving, I saw the track that I had come downhill on!
