Painting with Sound exhibition. MIXED MEDIA PAINTINGS ON PAPER. All my paintings are based on drawings done at concerts and rehearsals. They are not portraits of musicians in the normal sense. I work from a series of brief sketches, a few written notes and the music which I listen to again if possible . and of course my memory of the event. Painting with Sound exhibition. I started using collage when I made paintings about rehearsals. I decided rehearsals were all about fragments of music being practised, so fragments of paper with musicians drawn over the top seemed relevant. This idea developed and I have been using collage in works on paper including programme notes and musical scores. Guarneri Trio,collage/mixed media SOLD. Painting with Sound exhibition. Since 1989 Jane has been fascinated by small groups of musicians performing. She spent a weekend drawing at the Barbican as different groups of musicians. Played all the Haydn string quartets. By the end of the weekend she was hooked and has been exploring the subject ever since through drawing, painting and collage using a variety of media. As Artist in Residence with Leamington Music (. She has received awards at the RWS Open Exhibition in London and Rugby Open exhibition.

Gilding and Gold Leaf. Gold Leaf is pure gold that has been beaten down and hammered out into very thin sheets. The leaves can then be cut into squares of about 10 square inches. Gold leaf should assay at about 22 carats. The colour of the gold differs according to the origin and the amount of alloy used.
