My Own Little Book Corner: February 2007

http://janreading.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html

My Own Little Book Corner. Saturday, February 3, 2007. January's over so I thought I'd give a brief review of the books I've read this month. I discovered some real gems. I started the year with "My Sister's Keeper". My next book was the classic "To Kill a Mockingbird". By Harper Lee. Very easy to believe that the events took place - unfortunately. A classic tale about the racial divide. Another 5 Star book. The Memory Keeper's Daughter". The last book I read this month was "The Little House".

http://janreading.blogspot.com/2014/09/2014-book-reviews-august.html

My Own Little Book Corner. Thursday, September 4, 2014. 2014 Book Reviews - August. The Shortest Way Home. Alice I Have Been. This is a sequel to. Whistling in the Dark. A book I read 4 years ago. It is told by an 11 year old girl, Sally, and is set in 1959. The summer adventures of Sally, her sister Troo and friends are different than any summer experience I ever had. For some reason these books remind me of the. A Grown Up Kind of Pretty. The first book I read by Ann Patchett was Bel Canto. 144 Books i...

Talkington Travels: Houston Run-Away

http://talkingtonvacation.blogspot.com/2007/08/houston-runaway.html

Tuesday, August 07, 2007. I found 2 downtown hotels that had rooms - the Hilton or the Alden. This was pretty much one of our typical Houston trips. Friday night we ate at Pappasitos. This has been a tradition of ours from way back it seems. Afterwards we went to the game and watched the 'Stros. Saturday morning we drove to Katy and went shopping at Katy Mills Mall. We've now eaten at 4 of the 7 "varities" of restaurants the Pappas own. They love to see us come to Houston! It was a nice little restaurant...

Talkington Travels: Christmas in DC

http://talkingtonvacation.blogspot.com/2009/02/christmas-in-dc.html

Tuesday, February 03, 2009. Everything was wonderful. We were able to book a direct flight. That is always a big plus to me. Then we booked a great hotel - The Willard. The Willard is just a few blocks from the White House so it was not only a great accommodation, with a great room and turn down service to boot, but it was so convenient. I love being able to walk out of the hotel and walk to just about anywhere we wanted to go. The next morning we got up and walked over to the Smithsonians. The museum wa...

Talkington Travels: June 2007

http://talkingtonvacation.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 25, 2007. Last weekend Jack and I ran away to Mobile. The week before Jack started thinking about taking Friday off, so I started looking for some place close by to go. After ruling out a few places, we settled on Mobile. This is a place that we go every Easter weekend for Leadership Training for Christ convention. That weekend is a "working" weekend though without time for any sightseeing. So we decided it may be a fun, relaxing place to go. Friday morning we headed over to Dauphin Island.

Talkington Travels: Highlands Trip

http://talkingtonvacation.blogspot.com/2008/10/highlands-trip.html

Friday, October 03, 2008. Jack and I were able to take a run-away trip to Highlands, North Carolina last month. This is a wonderful place in the Blue Ridge Mountains - a couple of hours from Atlanta and Tennessee. Highlands is surrounded by the Nantahala National Forest. This is a rain forest so even in a drought, there was plenty of vegetation and waterfalls. In planning the trip I got on line and searched for places to stay. The only place I found that was up a mountain was Skyline Lodge. Highlands is ...

Talkington Travels: January 2008

http://talkingtonvacation.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 30, 2008. Last week was spent in Nashville while I attended the annual Christian Education Conference. I look forward to this time of learning, renewal and fellowship each year and this year did not disappoint. The conference rotates between 5 different cities. Each year we are given some free time in the mid-afternoon and the conference ends on Wednesday around lunchtime. Jack and I try to take advantage of the free time by taking in some of the city sights. We did get out and drive a...
