Brenda Knits: January 6th - This Hubby's Christmas
http://brenda-bjhf.blogspot.com/2012/01/january-6th-this-hubbys-christmas.html
Friday, January 6, 2012. January 6th - This Hubby's Christmas. Knitters Christmas and look what was finished on time! Fred's specially-requested, red, wool, sweater. Seen here inside out and on the blocking board. I am a steam blocker and to prevent the heat from discolouring the yarn, I always block inside out. Pin out to size, then hover the steam iron over the garment until the heat and steam set the stitches. This photo I snapped as Fred began to put it on. Followed by his very. Er, stiff pose. Anoth...
Brenda Knits: Back From The North
http://brenda-bjhf.blogspot.com/2015/05/back-from-north.html
Wednesday, May 20, 2015. Back From The North. And how much knitting did I do in the 20 hours of driving? Here it is. My little poncho to use as a cover up for my black outfit. Not yet complete but only a few inches to go. You are looking at the third attempt. The first try, I cast on the number of stitches and used the needle size recommended in the Yarnharlot's pattern. And I am almost there. I estimate two more inches of plain knitting, then the Fern Kerchief. Lace pattern just before the cast off.
Brenda Knits: May 2015
http://brenda-bjhf.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 29, 2015. A pattern I first noticed in the Summer 2013 issue of Vogue Knitting, is finished. Two years from inspiration to completion. About average for me. Pattern: Sheer Panel Top from Vogue Knitting, Summer 2013 issue. Yarns: Coral - Super 10 Cotton. Green - Americo Cotton Flamme. Yellow - Cotton Tweed. 2 I wouldn't guarantee that the colour changes were worked precisely where the designer intended. I knit this top a bit longer than my normal length, as it has a bit of an A line and is mea...
Brenda Knits: February 2015
http://brenda-bjhf.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 17, 2015. A Rush To Finish. It has been a bit of a rush around here finishing a couple of projects before heading off on our big trip to Hawaii. Tomorrow we leave, and by last evening, both pieces were finished. Perfect timing. I came home last Wednesday from my Ladies With Balls with an unfinished Entrelac piece. The knitter had been working on this for over a year and had finally reached. Me- I'm the 'teacher' - but do you think I could remember? The fringe needs to be trimmed and the...
Brenda Knits: What Did Brenda Knit?
http://brenda-bjhf.blogspot.com/2015/05/what-did-brenda-knit.html
Tuesday, May 12, 2015. What Did Brenda Knit? A more accurate title might be - Did Brenda Knit? One would think with 25 hours of sitting in a passenger's seat, to-ing and fro-ing from the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival that indeed I could have knit a sweater, a pair of socks or two, a baby's outfit etc.,etc.etc. But no. Here is what I accomplished sitting in that seat. Would it help if I told you it was the second attempt? The first being about as long as this second try before I ripped it back? No, you...
Brenda Knits: December 2014
http://brenda-bjhf.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 22, 2014. The Chastain Park Shawl. In late August, some of my Ladies with Balls and I spent an evening at Orillia's newest yarn store, Purl 3. The store was hosting a trunk show with Deb Gemmell. The show was fun, Deb's speech enlightening, but it was really the shopping that satisfied. On display, in the store, was the Chastain Park Shawl. Knit in - well that is the question. I have done what I caution knitters never to do - thrown out the ball band. I think. Links to this post. Saturda...
Brenda Knits: January 2015
http://brenda-bjhf.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 26, 2015. Not All Of Us Fish. Fred has discovered surf fishing. You know - the only people on the beach not in a swim suit. Not covered in sun screen. Not carrying a beach towel. Instead he's one of the guys pulling a '. Fisherman's cart. Filled with poles, bait, lunch, tackle, lawn chairs, cutting knife and most importantly, Fred says, enthusiasm. In this photo, he's at the locks, rather than the beach, but same idea. Links to this post. Tuesday, January 20, 2015. Links to this post.
Brenda Knits: Weekend Knitting, Weekend Fun
http://brenda-bjhf.blogspot.com/2012/02/weekend-knitting-weekend-fun.html
Monday, February 20, 2012. Weekend Knitting, Weekend Fun. Over the last few years, Ontarians have been given the gift of a mid-February, long weekend. I retired too soon. Designated as Family Day, today is a holiday. In keeping with that idea, Fred and I invited my two sisters and their husbands for the weekend. To great eye-rolling on the part of the guys, we 'girls' started each morning with our coffee in the hot tub. My felted hats were a great way to keep the head warm and dry. Duct Tape Dress Form.

http://brenda-bjhf.blogspot.com/2015/05/this-and-that.html

A library-sponsored Mothers' Day Tea on Friday, a Jennifer Potter. Concert on Saturday and a collapse day on Sunday. I leave you with a pictorial of the events. Early retiree who...

Jan's Theological Thoughts
Thoughts about Theology and Christian Living. Monday, 3 October 2011. As men and women of this world, we are often rather good at the 'Blame Game'. We often have an excuse - or even better, someone to blame - why we did or did not do as we did. But all our choices have repercussions, some even extend beyond our reach and knowledge. Friday, 30 September 2011. Genesis 2, 25. Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden felt no shame in the beginning although they were naked. Wednesday, 25 August 2010. I just wanted ...

Sticky Fingers
Friday, June 19, 2015. Loving the new blooms that show up as my collection matures. Some first blooms this summer. Posted by Jade at 7:26 pm. Monday, June 08, 2015. I have a fascination with these species with prominent and distinct bright green tubercules. Some of the members, however, have me uncertain of how they fit in, but I figure that it is the bright yellow flowers. So here are some of mine (in bloom or otherwise). Generous and willing bloomer. This M. sphaerica. Posted by Jade at 11:45 pm. So in...
Tidbits
Just some weird stuff. Saturday, November 16, 2013. E Wright, Agent. Buckley Chronicle. 22 April 1898. Sunday, August 25, 2013. We recently visited the Beekman Cemetery near East Bend, Illinois. The small cemetery is very secluded in the corn fields of Champaign County. I have seen many of the "tree stump" headstones, but this cemetery had a very unusual grouping of "tree stump" stones. During the intense heat of the afternoon Donald, who could not swim but had often been in the water before, went with s...
Chicago Real Estate | Learn how to sell your house
Bits about the world. Imagine this scenario: you have meticulously saved up money to buy that dream home of yours and after years and months of search, you have finally zeroed in on that dream home of yours. Everything seems fine but you are not convinced with the price the seller is quoting. The price does seem a bit on the higher side. Mixed Race Father, Son Piggyback, Front of House, Sold Sign. You would not because they are not equals and made differently. Similarly, two different homes with differen...

Jan's Tidbits A little bit of this and that. A little bit of this and that. June 20, 2014. And Now I Wait. Surgery was yesterday. The freezing was the toughest part. Hugs and happy thoughts. Posted in Just Life. June 16, 2014. Can It Be Done? My wrist surgery is fast approaching. On Thursday I am hoping for a good fi...
