I am in complete awe, this is one of the most fascinating places I've ever been to. The sheer size and magnitude of the caverns is impressive, but the formations are simply mind blowing. Unreal. Wednesday, October 8, 2008. Day 9 Talladega to Columbus, GA. Opening the zipper of the tent and viewing the surrounding tent city was crazy. It's impossible to estimate the amount of people camping, but it must have been more than 50,000 people. At least. We definitely didn't fit in, since we weren't draped in nascar garb, but we put together enough of a camo wardrobe to belong. Inside the track, it was hot, loud, smokey and FUN! Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Day 3 LA to Phoenix. Grandma Alder made us a delicious puff pancake before the 3 of us headed down the street to Seal Beach. She donated cash to rebuild the pier after a storm in the early 80's, we saw surfers, fishermen, the Long Beach skyline and a naval frigot. Afterward we saw the Mona Lisa! We left LA and flew through the desert to Surprise, AZ, where we had our third bday celebration in as many days. Yay for September! Monday, September 29, 2008. Day 2 Los Angeles.
