Monday, August 3, 2015. Two Pixar Bits: 'Cars 3' Release Date Hints, John Debney to Score a Pixar Film? Just a few weeks ago, Pixar held a private Motorama car show. Autoweek got some details on the show. And some words from John Lasseter himself. What did Mr. Lasseter have to say about the next installment in the Cars. According to Autoweek's writer Mark Vaughn, Lasseter said the film "may come out in the summer of 2018 or 2019.". That does leave one question. Which year does it most likely land in?

Kyle's Animated World: My Problems with Modern Animation Criticism & Commentary
http://kylesanimatedworld.blogspot.com/p/my-problem-with-modern-animation.html
My Problems with Modern Animation Criticism and Commentary. Written on October 22, 2014…. This is a particularly prevalent and tiresome problem I have with animation talk today… Article after article I see praise heaped on everything post-1989 that happens to be animated. I see writers talk about how more "complex" or how more "mature" animated features became after The Little Mermaid. Animated films have been getting more adult these days! Walt made films that didn't talk down to the audience, whether t...

Kyle's Animated World: Animation Opening Weekends and Other Stuff…
http://kylesanimatedworld.blogspot.com/p/some-statistics-and-findings.html
Animation Opening Weekends and Other Stuff…. Originally written October 13, 2014…. The other day, I wanted to see what films were the biggest on opening weekend each year. The reason I did this was because I think it gives you some context on the times… I'll be focusing on the mid-1990s until roughly 2004. 1 The Lion King. 5 Beauty and the Beast. Grossing less than The Lion King. Took in the second biggest opening total for an animated film, with Toy Story. Very close behind it later that year. Also add ...

Kyle's Animated World: Bits Journal #47
http://kylesanimatedworld.blogspot.com/2015/08/bits-journal-47.html
Sunday, August 9, 2015. Bits on black cauldrons and Blue Sky and British animated films and more. A little while ago, a petition was going around. One that begged for something that many an animation fan often wonder about. The uncut version of Disney's often-forgotten 1985 animated feature The Black Cauldron. For those who aren't in the know, this is the skinny. The Black Cauldron. The petition, unlike previous ones, seemed to be going somewhere. The man behind said petition got several people who w...

Kyle's Animated World: 'Norm of the North' Gets a Trailer
http://kylesanimatedworld.blogspot.com/2015/08/norm-of-north-gets-trailer.html
Tuesday, August 4, 2015. Norm of the North' Gets a Trailer. I remember hearing about Norm of the North. A while back, a story about a polar bear that was supposed to be done up at Crest Animation, the studio that made Alpha and Omega. For a while it was pegged for January 2015, but as time went on, we heard little about it. It was like one of those Bunyan and Babe. Type animated films where animation was completed, but nothing really came of it. I don't know about you, but this plays out like an animated...

Kyle's Animated World: Just Some Things...
http://kylesanimatedworld.blogspot.com/p/just-some-things.html
The Ages of American Animation. Here's how I divide the different eras of American animation, or animation in North America, whatever country it is from. Of course, everything from Gertie the Dinosaur. Up until before the day Walt Disney gave us Steamboat Willie. The 1st Golden Age:. Was huge, but the era of avant garde animation didn't last too long after that. Ralph Bakshi almost kicked off a renaissance of adult animation, but that didn't last too long either. The 2nd Golden Age:. Beauty and the Beast.
