I make no political statement, seek no deep inner meaning, and hide nothing in the layers of color in my work. I paint people, places, and things that are pleasing to my eye. Many of my paintings are from places visited in the past with a strong influence from several years living, traveling and studying in Europe and Asia. I have been teaching watercolors in my studio and at Furman University for three years now and if the answer as to why am I here needed saying, is would probably be for my students.

Monday, December 14, 2009. El Rito, NM.right before Christmas. Lthough I love San Francisco, there is something about New Mexico that makes its nickname: Land of Enchantment, resonate deeply with me. Was lucky enough to have a research project that absolutely, positively required an in-person trip to Sante Fe. And I am lucky indeed to have a dear friend and artist, Susan Guevara, to stay with. Usan arranged a visit to the El Rito Elementary school, where I visited with the kindergarten and 1st grade.
