Alanna Wendt to Tennessee: DIY Scrap Fabric Holiday Art
http://alanna-wendt-to-tennessee.blogspot.com/2013/12/diy-scrap-fabric-holiday-art.html
DIY Scrap Fabric Holiday Art. I found a massive, 23 inch wide embroidery hoop at a thrift store for just a couple of dollars about a month ago. I used one when decorating my Christmas mantle last year. And thought that it could be fun to add another one into the mix. But I wanted to do something a little different this time around… something more than just a few simple, painted words. . So I gathered all of the supplies that I thought I could possibly need to make some sort of Christmas art. . 160; Thi...

Scissors, measuring tape, hot glue gun and two roles of burlap ribbon. Picked up in the floral section at Walmart for about $3.00 each). And that’s it! Is licens...

Alanna Wendt to Tennessee: Guess Who Had a Birthday!
http://alanna-wendt-to-tennessee.blogspot.com/2013/12/guess-who-had-birthday.html
Guess Who Had a Birthday! A 4th birthday to be exact! 160; I’ll give you a hint. it was this girl! And when asked what kind of party she wanted to have she firmly stated that she wanted a “rainbow party… just like my birthday party last year. 8221; Who am I not to give the birthday girl what she wants, right? 160; So a rainbow party it was! A lot of the party was pretty similar to last year… colorful streamers, rainbow themed fruit and veggies, tie-dyed cupcakes, pizza, etc. . All made it outside, their...

Alanna Wendt to Tennessee: DIY Roman Shades
http://alanna-wendt-to-tennessee.blogspot.com/2012/01/diy-roman-shades.html
Craig and I decided to try our hands at making some Roman shades out of vinyl mini blinds for our kitchen/family room. I had read a couple of tutorials that made the project seem to be pretty simple ( here. 160; Unfortunately, the project turned out to be anything but simple for us thanks to a few different problems. The pattern on the fabric we chose is not perfectly straight. The widths of the windows plus the trim are odd sizes. So we couldn’t find vinyl mini blinds in the correct size). After laying...

Alanna Wendt to Tennessee: A Christmas Mantel
http://alanna-wendt-to-tennessee.blogspot.com/2012/12/a-christmas-mantel.html
I realize that this post is more than late. I had every intention of writing it 2-3 weeks ago, but work, the kids, the house, etc. just kept getting in my way. Sorry about that, but better late than never, right? Anyway, here are some pictures of our mantle all decorated for Christmas this year. It was so different from the mantel that we had last year. And the year before. 160; It has a much more casual feel to it, which I love! 160; Hope you love it too! Holly @ Life as a Thrifter. Life as a Thrifter.

Circus Party Photo Booth. When planning Owen’s circus birthday party. I decided that a photo booth would be a fun addition! 160; Creating the photo booth area was so super easy. I simply covered our patio sliders with a couple of festive, thrifted sheets and invited everyone to “step right up” with a circus-y message written on the nearby outdoor chalkboard. 160; Props for the photo booth included a thrifted and painted picture frame, an inflatable elephant. For the ring master). 160; The food and decor...

Alanna Wendt to Tennessee: October 2013
http://alanna-wendt-to-tennessee.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
I spent a little time today finishing up our Halloween decorations. Typically, we don’t do much more than a pumpkin on the porch, so it was a lot of fun to raise the bar a little. . The neighborhood kiddos will have some spooky spiders to contend with if they want their treats this year. They’ll first be greeted by this guy when they arrive in the driveway. . Then, if they’re brave enough to continue down the sidewalk they’ll run into these two. And speaking of candy… there are spiders there too. Talle...
