Life Abundant: October 2013
http://www.jasonbowker.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 1, 2013. Wise Words from a Wise Man. He recently did an interview with Jonathan Merritt. For Religion News Service. That is well worth your time. Here is the money quote from the interview:. JM: With your experience in both the church and the academy, I wonder what advice you would give to young seminary students today. If you were asked by one to describe what is at the heart of the work of pastoring and shepherding, what would you say? But you won’t be a pastor. See more at: http:/ jon...
Life Abundant: December 2013
http://www.jasonbowker.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 4, 2013. Over the past number years I have had tons of conversations and thoughts about the concept of Christian mission. I grew up thinking of "mission" or "missions" as being one thing, but have begun to wonder if it is not something entirely different. For lack of time at the moment, I'll save those thoughts for another post, but this quote from Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove's, The Wisdom of Stability. Does a great job of quickly summarizing some of my own thoughts on the subject.

Thursday, May 29, 2014. Ten Years and Running. Well…today is a special day. Today I celebrate the tenth anniversary of my marriage. I can’t believe we’ve had a decade together…wow! The last 10 years have certainly been an adventure. I was 21 years old at our wedding and am a completely different person today than I was then. And Mandy is different too. But we have journeyed together through all of these changes, committed to the process of growing and maturing and transforming together. Mike Morrell aske...

Monday, December 27, 2010. 365 Days of blogging, can I commit to that? I saw, on facebook, a friend was taking a picture everyday of something that caught her eye and then writing a brief description about what the picture was about. It became an interesting photo representation of her year, her thoughts, her family, etc. I was struck by how amazing this exercise could be and also how difficult of a discipline it is. I think there may be value in starting a disciple such as this around New Years. Striving...

Friday, September 11, 2009. The Day I Will Never Forget. Who all was involved? Where was Osama Bin Laden again? All these questions we all have not only answers to, but memories as to where we were and what we were doing when we got the answers. I was attending a Christian University at the time and as soon as class was over, we all walked to the quad in time for Chapel to start. What a moving day. Let's never forget. Monday, March 26, 2018. Keeping Holy Week Holy. Holy Week can pretty easily become anything but holy. Holiness is about being set apart; about things being special and sacred and meaningful. So, I always fear that trying to sandwich so many events into a short period of time does not allow us to properly reflect on the special-ness, sacred-ness, and meaningfulness of the triumphant entry, betrayal, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus in the original Holy Week. Let's remember to keep Holy Week holy.
