The Edge Of Silence: Getting My Glaze On
http://dychedesigns.blogspot.com/2015/04/getting-my-glaze-on.html
Sunday, April 5, 2015. Getting My Glaze On. With just ten days to go before I fly to the UK I've been trying to finish up all the ceramic projects I've been working on. It's so hard to stop creating and concentrate on glazing as clay is super addictive. Above is a small hand built hare and below is a celtic plaque I've been working on. I've also been making some owl plaques to hang on the wall. Just waiting to see how the glazing turns out. April 6, 2015 at 8:09 AM. April 6, 2015 at 5:18 PM. Got to love ...

Mother of a Hungry Ghost: April 2012
http://hungryghostmom.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Mother of a Hungry Ghost. A true story of addiction, and love. Thursday, April 19, 2012. When The Oldest really wants to get to me, he tells me how much our lives are always all about me, how self-centred I am, etc. It's nasty, it's spiteful, and it digs in only because there's at least a tiny bit of truth in it. C'est la vie, really. Cuz this time, The Oldest, it is. I found an article last week simply titled ' How to Stop Enabling. Let your loved one face his or her own consequences. As for number 5 &#...

Mother of a Hungry Ghost: a quiet haunting
http://hungryghostmom.blogspot.com/2013/06/a-quiet-haunting.html
Mother of a Hungry Ghost. A true story of addiction, and love. Wednesday, June 12, 2013. It's been almost a year since I wrote here. Life has been - my sons have done what they do. They have come, and gone, and come again, and gone again. At this point in time they are both away for the summer working out of this dead-for-them town with little to offer young men besides addiction and depression. They will be back. Life keeps going on. Mother of a Hungry Ghost: the glutton
http://hungryghostmom.blogspot.com/2013/07/the-glutton.html
Mother of a Hungry Ghost. A true story of addiction, and love. Saturday, July 20, 2013. These are the words trapped in my head. I don't need anyone to do anything about them. I just need to get them out where I can see them. I need to do it here where fewer people - but still some people - can read them. Here there is plausible deniability. Here there is veiled anonymity. I have eaten almost all day. Not non-stop, but not stopped for long. I was going to stop at 4. Do a purge - epsom salts an...I know a ...

Mother of a Hungry Ghost: About 'Hungry Ghosts'
http://hungryghostmom.blogspot.com/p/hungry-ghosts.html
Mother of a Hungry Ghost. A true story of addiction, and love. The title for this blog, and for the accompanying book-in-progress, came after a conference session I attended during which Dr. Gabor Maté discussed his book In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction. And the relationship between mental health, brain injury, and addiction. Dr Maté describes the world that addict inhabit in this comapssionate way:. I strongly recommend In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts.

Mother of a Hungry Ghost: happy, with a side of skepticism
http://hungryghostmom.blogspot.com/2012/06/happy-with-side-of-skepticism.html
Mother of a Hungry Ghost. A true story of addiction, and love. Wednesday, June 27, 2012. Happy, with a side of skepticism. Things are ticking along. Not unlike a bomb, those the wary amongst us who've been here before. I emailed friends and family an update the other day and one response said 'keep an eye out for The Little One - people with depression tend to get worse when things go well.' Sigh. And I thought (but managed not to say) 'why does this sound so much like his suicide note from last year?

Mother of a Hungry Ghost: fight or flight
http://hungryghostmom.blogspot.com/2013/06/fight-or-flight.html
Mother of a Hungry Ghost. A true story of addiction, and love. Sunday, June 16, 2013. The Little One . I've been expecting his death since before he was conceived. Since his sister failed to thrive and was vacuumed out of my body at 16 weeks. Since he was hospitalized at 3 weeks old and wasted away until a doctor realized what surgery he needed. Mostly fatigue. I don't want this fight anymore. I wish for some other champion to help slay his dragons. June 21, 2013 at 12:52 PM. I cant do it alone. Thanks&#...

Mother of a Hungry Ghost: when alive isn't enough
http://hungryghostmom.blogspot.com/2012/06/alive-isnt-enough.html
Mother of a Hungry Ghost. A true story of addiction, and love. Sunday, June 10, 2012. When alive isn't enough. There are permanent changes to her daughter's brain - personality, learning, eye sight, endocrine system, etc. And it will be years and years before they know the full extent of the changes. And yet, they survived. At least the initial intense battles. The family is drained, and they survived. But my friend posted today on Facebook, 'Is it awful that 'alive' is not enough some days? But really, ...

Mother of a Hungry Ghost: March 2012
http://hungryghostmom.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Mother of a Hungry Ghost. A true story of addiction, and love. Wednesday, March 28, 2012. The break that can't be unbroken. Not to be overly-dramatic (because, you know, we keep it so light around here) but when your child is a drug addict who cannot be trusted, ever day is an opportunity for a little more heartache. You learn, eventually, not to trust the good times. But, even with heart-break being an ongoing part of our new-normal, some moments stand out. Mom's engagement and wedding rings. They've tr...
