A movement to use 2D QR barcodes is in effect and has recently gained a huge partner that will help move it to an adopted standard, Google. If anyone remembers the CueCat. 2D QR barcodes don’t come with the gimmick that the CueCat did, but also has isn’t being pushed solely for advertising. Now Google is utilizing the use of the 2D QR barcodes in print ads. But you can also use BeQRious.
