We’ve lived in this same house for about ten years now. We’ve made a lot of improvements to the inside of the house, but the outside could still use a lot of work. We live across the street from a playground and the end of our road leads right into a woodsy area in the middle of town. The living room has a fireplace and a cushy window seat and there’s now a toy nook hidden behind the couch. Upstairs, there are four bedrooms (plenty of room for a new baby! And a full bathroom.

We met the woman we have come to know affectionately as Mommy Cassie in the fall of 2009 when she chose our family as the one she wanted her unborn son to grow up in. We went down to Carrizo Springs to meet her in January and enjoyed that time to get to know her and her family before the baby was born. Although we had planned to be present at Gabriel’s birth, he decided to make his appearance in the world a bit early and we arrived at the hospital 13 hours after he was born.

Carissa’s younger sister is married and has two sons. They live in Virginia. Carissa’s parents now live in Kentucky. We usually travel to see all of them about once a year and they often come out to see us about once a year as well. When we visit, we often work on house projects together (remodeling, gardening, etc.). And they all live in Virginia. We see them about once a year.

Up, up away. Tuesday, July 14, 2015. My alarm went off a few times before my eye's popped open. Time to get up! I quietly got completely ready before even attempting to wake jay. He is 100% not a morning person. Or a wake them up before they are ready to wake up, person. I grabbed my camera bag, pushed jay into the car we were off to driggs! I can't tell you how long i've wanted to go to a hot air ballon lift off. Even though it was 5:10 in the morning, i was wiiiiide awake. There was no one on the road.
