January 19, 2015. Reading up on maple sugaring. Maybe this year we will get in over our heads and tap too many trees. It would be nice to one day have an evaporator. and a sugar shack to pt it in. Here she is knitting like a true homesteader in the winter. Across the back of the couch is a quilt made by a certain mother/ mother-in-law. Her legs are also wrapped in a green fleece blanket made by the same to match our Mini Cooper. The Mini had to go, but the blanket still keeps us warm. A cabin in he woods.

March 19, 2015. It's that time again! As we move from winter to Spring the trees are tapped and we are ready to go. This year I upgraded our system at the trees. From the spile is a three inch PVC elbow, then Pex pipe down to the 5 gallon water containers. Perfect for keeping the bugs out when it gets a little warmer. Finn leads us to the hardware store for supplies. We are very pleased that the snow is melting. Here's our first small batch/ trial run. It came out great! March 20, 2015 at 4:59 AM.

April 6, 2015. Happy birthday, Finn! We found him four years ago when he was approximately three years old. We don't know for sure, but that is a good guess. October 28, 2014. While we drove to the cabin, the sun got up underneath these clouds and turned them into fire. Finn and I went on a hike. Walking toward the sun was intense. I don't know how these sheets of rock were made, but I can think of a number of uses for them. October 21, 2014. That's a thick little cloud! We can still sit outside at Yum Yum in Woodstock, but not without sweaters. She made this one. October 14, 2014. It was great having so much family at the cabin this weekend. October 7, 2014.

November 30, 2014. What a little dusting can do. It was a beautiful holiday weekend. While we still maintain that the snow came a bit too early, we had to admit that it was really nice. A light dusting of snow and light can sure put a shine on things. We've traveled this road hundreds of times, but it never looked like we were headed to heaven. For our 22nd anniversary, we went to a local place called New Word Home Cooking. Below is our custom made ice cream topped with sherry, inspired by her father.
