I love the call of the gulls, and the sight of them soaring through the sky over the sea:. And I love the pretty houses by the harbour in villages all over Cornwall. I did for a while look at the verticals of reeds against the water and work with that. But mainly I’m always thinking of the colours of the coast – the sand and the sea, the sky whether cloudy and grey or blue and white, the rusty colours of huge bolts on the breakwaters. The juxtaposition of pale blue and rusty bronze is my favourite at the moment, and everywhere I see it, I want to capture it for my pots –. Drain cover on the path. Terracotta with faded painted wood. Pots in the garden. I like the more subtle colours you see in winter. As well as the more vivid colours of the summer. And the sometimes soft hazy colours of heat. Friday, 31 May 2013. The former Liverpool offices of Harland and Wolff (the world famous Belfast shipbuilders who built The Titanic) are about to be lost forever. The demolition of this fine building in Regent Road is now happening (why did Sefton Borough Council ever sanction this? This photo was taken on 6th May 2013. The interior is largly demolished and when I visited last week the dismantling of the famous facade appeared to be underway. There may be nothing left in a few days! Bold Street Art (2011).
