Janet P - Web Dev blog

Wednesday, December 17, 2008. Final Project - progress. The activity page is finally functioning. What I changed was to first get all of the event ids for the selected category and date range, and then in my foreach loop get the event details for each eventid. This worked. Initially I was trying to do both in one step. I will add more data to the table so there is something for each category. Next steps are to add pagination and to get the "post activity" page working, but I think I am out of time. I thi...

Janet P - Web Dev blog: Class 6 - intro to PHP

http://www.jcpwebdev.blogspot.com/2008/11/class-8-mysql-and-php.html

Saturday, November 8, 2008. Class 6 - intro to PHP. In class 6 we used PHP to templatize our e-commerce sites in order to reuse code for multiple pages; the concept of a controller and a view. Going forward I will be using the MVC approach because I find it easier to read and maintain. I guess I like structure. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Janet P - Web Dev blog. Janet P - Web Dev blog: Class 5 - prototype.js and event observers

http://www.jcpwebdev.blogspot.com/2008/10/class-5-prototyejs-and-event-observers.html

Sunday, October 19, 2008. Class 5 - prototype.js and event observers. Things are getting a little more abstract with the introduction of prototypes. It is a case of learning by example and for this exercise, focusing on event observers, which seem to be very powerful. Very nice so far! Don't forget that when you mouse off of the thumbnail, the product info should disappear. so you need to do another event observer that detects mouseout events, and makes the product info divs invisible again. Janet P - Web Dev blog: Class 10 - Final Project

http://www.jcpwebdev.blogspot.com/2008/11/class-10-final-project.html

Saturday, November 22, 2008. Class 10 - Final Project. I think I am done with my wire frames. The site comprises nine pages. For Dec 13th I might have to de-scope some things, but I plan to complete it. At work we often have to split large projects into two phases. One of the many things I've learned from this class is the importance of working out the pages and the navigation before beginning to code. Now that I've done this, I'm really looking forward to getting started. Janet P - Web Dev blog. Catheli...

A blog for the NYU Web Development Class Spring '09. Friday, April 17, 2009. Class 8: Blog Challenge. Here's a photo of my blog, which basically combines last week's homework and this week's so I could get both working. Click here. Wish I'd had more time to make it look pretty. Posted by M. Tompkins. Mimi T.: May 2009

http://milanoandlulu.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

A blog for the NYU Web Development Class Spring '09. Friday, May 8, 2009. Here's my final project called "The Insider's New York." It's a journalism site about New York City with a focus on stories that show how the city is changing. The site also features practical information that people can use with the city in a down economy (shopping bargains, cheap restaurants, ways to lower your rent etc). It's aimed at New Yorkers and also people who are interested in the city or who want to come here.

A blog for the NYU Web Development Class Spring '09. Saturday, April 25, 2009. The final project's site map. My project is "The Insider's NYC" a news/journalism site about New York with articles and reports on how it's changing right now. It also has a "news you can use" bent, giving tips on cheap places to go, eat, shop, good places to hear music etc. This is a site map that helped me figure out the flow of information and how the pages connect. http://milanoandlulu.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

A blog for the NYU Web Development Class Spring '09. Friday, March 27, 2009. Here's the assignment using JQuery. The site is for an Archery Equipment store "Everything Archery." I also made the tabs active using "hover" in CSS. The only problem I didn't solve is why only the top one-third of the page loads in Safari. Works just fine with Firefox. Anyone know? Click the photo to reach the JQuery version. And this link is the Javascript version: Everything Archery. Posted by M. Tompkins. Wednesday, March 4...
