After watching three political debates in the past week, I’m really disgusted with much of what I’ve heard. I think I can also add frustrated and insulted as additional sentiments. I’m hearing a lot of stuff (and malarkey) that has no direct bearing on me and I’m hearing a lot of lies, damn lies, and twisted statistics being thrown about. I can’t wait for all of this to be over. If so, how?

Shortly after I retired in 2008, I undertook a major effort to save money on my utility bills. 160; Since I was no longer getting a regular paycheck, I was super sensitive about my monthly expenses. Reducing my utility bills was something I had some control over since they were usage based. It was easy to rationalize: reduce my usage = reduction in my expenses.

The government cuts social security and state pension payouts by 12% - the average monthly payout goes from $1,230 to $1,082. The minimum hourly wage is cut by 22% - goes from $8.00 to $6.24. State governments immediately layoff 15,000 public workers and agree to a 20% reduction in the government workforce in the next 3 years. Theft and robberies are up 10% over the prior year.

To do some last minute laundry, refuel, and enjoy the beautiful desert vista's. Marathon sits in a large basin with mountains in the distance. It's classified as a Class One Dark Sky place.
