We zijn dus weer druk bezig met het huis, maar we blijven af en toe ook tijd maken voor wat ontspanning. Zo brachten we ter ere van David's verjaardag een bezoekje aan de pinguïns bij Simonstown:. David en ik zijn eindelijk eens wezen eten in restaurant The Foodbarn. Dat was geweldig: heerlijk eten, lekkere wijn, aardige bediening, ontspannen atmosfeer, erg betaalbaar en dat allemaal op vijf minuten van ons huis. Mandy was een bijzondere persoon. Meer dan ieder ander die ik ken leefde Mandy 'in het moment'. Ze had veel vrienden en ging graag naar een feestje. Ze was een heel ontspannen persoon, die nooit (echt nooit! Zodra de wind goed was, kon je Mandy op het water vinden met een grote grijns op haar gezicht. Het was fantastisch om haar in actie te zien en ze leek eerder 21 dan 51 jaar oud. Afgelopen zaterdag hebben we een mooi afscheid voor Mandy gehouden. De zomer is begonnen in Noordhoek. Het is heerlijk weer, elke dag zomerjurkjes/korte broeken en Thomas wil geen schoenen meer aan. Ook 5 november was een zeer zonnige dag. Mijn schoonmoeder werd 80 jaar. Reden voor een feestelijke lunch. Pat's vrienden uit het hele land, haar zus uit Engeland en de familie waren aanwezig. Pat en haar zus Sally ('Big Sal'):. Pat is met haar 80 jaren nog superfit en was de eerste dit seizoen om ons zwembad te gebruiken. Daar kon Thomas niet bij achterblijven natuurlijk.

De bijzondere leuke maand maart 2012. Het is al weer even geleden en dus is er weer veel te vertellen. Dus snel van start met korte verslaggeving, veel foto's en enkele tips. In week 11 hebben we een korte trip gemaakt met mijn ouders: naar Swellendam, Wilderness en Knyshna. Bij Swellendam heerlijk gegeten bij Belgische restauranthoudster (aanrader: Sabine's Drostdy Restaurant). Bij Knyshna een olifanten-opvang bezocht waar je olifanten aan mocht raken:. De laatste loodjes. De buik is dik, bukken gaat niet meer zo makkelijk en slapen is ook niet elke nacht een succes. Dus kom maar op met de baby? Nou, geef me nog maar een paar dagen. Nog even huurders vinden voor de cottage, het dekentje voor de wieg afzoomen, wat planten verplaatsen in de tuin, de naam bedenken voor de baby en vooral nog even genieten van wat uitjes met onze visite. Mijn zus Mirjam is hier voor een maand, samen met partner Guus en kindjes Sarah en Femke. En dat is erg GEZELLIG.
