Like the world needed another american idol blog. May 13, 2008. Ryan tells us that last summer, three people took a chance and auditioned for an obscure little cable-access show they call American Idol: “A high-schooler…” ( David Archuleta. Grins), “an actress…” ( Syesha. Makes a stupid face), “…and a bartender.” ( Cook. It’s a very, very sad line. Do you know sadness, David Archuleta? Or has your father rendered you numb to all emotion? Randy and Paula love it; Simon calls it good, but predictable.

Like the world needed another american idol blog. Most mixed-up non-delinquent on the block. May 14, 2008. Quick and dirty tonight. The Idolettes are singing “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now,” which I think is what Ruben Studdard. Sang to each other during the Season 2 finale, no? Is wearing an ensemble from the “Eh, Fuck It” collection: A simple white tank top, jeans, and white sneakers. Even her hair is less sassy. She milks her solo parts for all they’re worth, though. He doesn’t make it to the finale. And n...

wandering rhinoceros: Bionic Man Introduced
http://wanderingrhino.blogspot.com/2006/07/bionic-man-introduced.html
Tuesday, July 18, 2006. First ever person to have all 10 truly bionic implants is being referred to as the 'Bionic Man'. Trying to distance himself from the 2050 virtual movie release, where the "Bionic man" was an eccentric villain, Geoff Thompson explains, "I didn't really plan it, it just happened as per need. I was pretty lucky that the health system covered most of my expenses, because otherwise I wouldn't be here.”. Mr Thompson’s first implant was in his cochlear. Asia, but felt little ill effects.

A critique of The Sing Off. And other random instances of singing on television, from a musical and performance point of view. Wednesday, May 20, 2009. American Idol, episode 8-40 (May 20): final results (season finale). There is a LOT missing here, but I'm posting now in the interest of timeliness. I promise I'll clean it up and fill it out later this week.]. Kris and Adam aren't being piped into the mix. Fox sound guys strike again! And even Michael Sarver. Did they just sing "and you're a tool"? Who b...

Tuesday, May 30, 2006. Web 20 program that can get you friends. It's called Fo.rtuito.us. It's just a soft launch, but I thought this was neat when I saw it on Techcrunch. Who knows if it will have the same traction as MySpace or Bebo. Which is growing as fast as MySpace) but as Michael points out, if it was offered as a feature on those existing social networking powerhouses, it will definitely get traffic. Things aren't always as they seem. Not-so-quotidian reflections through the blue eyes of a not-so-traditional librarian-to-be. Saturday, January 27, 2007. Librarian Funland, Part 1 - - Two, two, two posts in one! Are they unwelcoming to newbies? I’m left wondering, are the tips of the trade offered in this newbie gathering something that could be offered online or sent by snail mail or email to conference participants who are first time attendees? Now THAT’S a user-centered approach! And sniffing out pla...

Things aren't always as they seem. Not-so-quotidian reflections through the blue eyes of a not-so-traditional librarian-to-be. Friday, April 27, 2007. Rock and roll twilight zone: the time traveler's wife and her wife. Last night, my lovely wife, J, and I attended yet another concert that was less expensive than the totally-not-worth-forty-dollars-EACH Taylor Hicks show. Irish angst a la Damien Rice. Was on the bill for the evening and we were both looking forward to it. What gives, Damien Rice? What's e...
