JEANETTE MANCHESTER HARRIS

Tuesday, January 5, 2016. The Master of the Pot. One thing you can usually say about an artist's work: It will change. I've seen lots of my fellow potter's work and progress and change over the years. And I have observed that a clay artist's works can change more radically and sometimes more quickly than other disciplines. A contributing factor may found in the very nature of artists who chose to work in clay. Maybe it is because of the versatility of clay. I liked trying to duplicate some of the techniq...

JEANETTE MANCHESTER HARRIS: May 2015

http://jeanetteharrisblog.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Saturday, May 16, 2015. Antique Loom for Sale. This is an antique Rocker-Beater loom. When it is all assembled and ready to work, it is a thing of beauty. It dates from around 1850- maybe even earlier. The wood is hand-hewn yellow pine and probably came from the southern areas of the east coast. I found it in Missouri in the late 1960's. It had been in an old mill before that. I wove many a rag rug on this beautiful thing. And made a few tapestries as well. The dog is all hand-cut from wood and works well.

http://jeanetteharrisblog.blogspot.com/2015/01/great-teapots.html

Thursday, January 29, 2015. Going through some old files on my computer, I ran across these teapots made by various artists. I love to look at these and, fortunately, the creators' names were included in this resource. Clay and Fiber Artist. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). JEANETTE MANCHESTER HARRIS: October 2014

http://jeanetteharrisblog.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Friday, October 17, 2014. No 1 First design-not my favorite. Too much like a bulls-eye. Of course I can't stop at just playing around with snake images. So I've been seeing if I can make a snake motif that says 'Snake' and also is graceful as a design. I doubt anyone would want to eat a meal on a snake plate unless you're a zookeeper, or have a pet snake or study snakes for a living. No 2 Second attempt. No 3 Better design overall-more snaky. No 4 Tail too long. No 5 Probably my favorite design. The firs...

JEANETTE MANCHESTER HARRIS: Mystery Teapot

http://jeanetteharrisblog.blogspot.com/2015/04/mystery-teapot.html

Sunday, April 5, 2015. Some time ago, I published a photo of this pot on the blog. Unfortunately at the time, I couldn't find the maker's identity. I included it in the post anyway because it's such a great piece. I like the lovely glaze variation. There's lots of planes and surfaces to show it off. Three oval loops - each an individual statement, yet relating nicely in oval form to each other and giving a wholeness to the piece. Nice to hear from you, Yael, Great Work! Clay and Fiber Artist. Designer of...

Taking a plunge | Webb Pottery Studio

https://annewebb.wordpress.com/2009/01/14/taking-a-plunge

A pottery blog and Studio Journal. January 14, 2009 in anne webb. Sorry I’ve not been posting *to* my blog lately but I’ve actually been busy *with* my blog and website, working to integrate the two. The plan was to not only place them under the same URL umbrella but to give them both a consistent look. I was going over my blog and web site last week, trying to come up with a plan of action of where I should start. I had already moved my original website over last fall to Bluehost. Came through like cham...

Corporate Art & Immersive Spaces. Just another WordPress site. Corporate Art & Immersive Spaces. The Daily Email - sign up for insights and inspiration! Why most artists' blogs fail. June 14, 2010. Why most artists' blogs fail. By “artist’s blog” I mean, a personal blog by an artist, not a blog about “Art” per se. I read a couple of artists’ blogs. I like Austin Kleon. For example… John T Unger doesn’t like writing much, but he has a great podcast, Art Heroes Radio. That’s also the REAL job of any ...
